HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE HILL
The sun came up golden and without the pictured fog but I love this Good Morning Picture so I wish to share it with all of you today.
The air has a nice crisp chill to it and it was 28 degrees when I finally awoke.
The Kitty Justice is to enjoy the last day of 2007 as 2008 is heading for us faster than duck on a June bug.

ME AND MY BEST AND OLDEST FRIEND LPC
Our old boss use to call her the Italian Pope and he was a funny little man. Whenever, you told him so and so wanted him to call them his statement was
"What do they want me to CALL them?"
But back to this year, on Saturday before Christmas, LPC, her husband Paul and mother Arna came for their annual visit.
I had made a big pot of coffee and left the makings out for more pots to be made but to my surprise, neither Paul nor Arna drank coffee like they had in previous years. Arna was forever heading outside to smoke a cigarette. LPC had told me she need another cigarette holder but I just could not let myself buy anything to encourage her habit. She collects Coca Cola items so I got her this big soup mug with coke on it.
They got here around eleven in the morning and left about eight and I always look forward to their visit. Prince will usually entertain Paul and LPC and I will take a few hours just the two of us.
Puppy use to think that Santa was really a 4'10" lady from Georgia. It was rather redundant after she came as she would bring a truck load of toys for him. She now has a Great Nephew to spoil like she did Puppy.
LPC has two Christmas trees in her home and she never takes them down nor does she take down her decorations. She has already started shopping for Christmas 2008. When she gets a gift she immediately wraps it and puts it under one of the trees. Now I would simply forget what I had in all those packages but not her.
Sometimes she will comment that she does not recall what is in the package but then when whoever starts unwrapping it she will say "Oh yeah, I remember that."
This statement is always made before you can even see the box to get an idea what the item happens to be.
I fixed for lunch, a honey ham, corn pudding, green beans and rolls. Topped off with chocolate chip bunt cake and cool whip. Still no coffee was drank. They did have their caffeine in the form of cokes.
The kitty justice is the day did not last as long as either of us would like and it will be another year before they will all come back to spend the day.

THE REAL REASON FOR CHRISTMAS
Thanks to all my many blogging friends to yank me back from Stressville and help me get a prospective.
Merry Christmas to all.
Now for a little story that I made up for Puppy many years ago about Santa.
Kitty was counting to three to get Puppy to do something and then she told him the reason parents count to three.
As Kitty held Puppy on her lap she began the tell of Santa Claus on Christmas Eve.
Parents learn to count to three to get things done because Santa only comes by three times on Christmas Eve.
Puppy's eyes grew very wide with this statement."Why is that Mother?"
Well, Santa is very busy on Christmas Eve as he has to go to every house to deliver toys to little boys and girls BUT (Puppy was hanging on to every word at this point) he cannot deliver the presents until each child is asleep.
If he comes by your house and you are still awake, he goes to the next house and then he will circle by again the next time around. On the second try, if you are still awake he will go further down his route and then he will circle by for a third and final time. If you are awake he leaves a note telling you he is sorry he will have to come back next year as he has millions of boys and girls to visit and he can only come by three times each year. Otherwise it would not be fair to the other children who are fast asleep awaiting presents on Christmas morning. So that is why we parents count to three as we learned it from Santa.
Hope you enjoyed my little tale and the Kitty Justice is that if you do not go to sleep tonight in time Santa just might not stop by your house.
MERRY CHRISTMAS

HERE THEY COME

The driveway is empty now and the grass is greener than it has been in months but soon there will be family and friends coming up the driveway to spend a few hours or days with us.

It is a hectic time . We plan to get ready but no one really cares if the brass is shined and the clutter put away as they are here to enjoy time together. Not inspect the house.

Prince took a few days vacation the coming two days so he can help get some things in order. The laundry room is in a mess as the whirlpool tech just came and in order for him to service the dryer we had to take down the shelves with all the cookbooks and laundry stuff. The worst part is the problem would never had come about if those two gorillas (I dub them this as they tossed my old washer and dryer around and dented them up and I was donating them to the thrift shop so they did not bring as much as they could have) had installed my dryer correctly. I paid 87.00 for a left kit conversion and that is not covered under warranty so I can either get nasty with H H Gregg or pay again to have it done. I can do nasty but I literally get physically sick afterwards from acting not like myself.

The restored items arrived today and they are sitting in our living room. So it is imperative that they are taken to Prince's little brothers. Furniture in one of the bedrooms must be moved and here we are two days before company arrives and it still is not in place. This had to be done for my nephew and his new wife. They got married on December 15Th.

I am beginning to panic because all jobs take longer in reality than in statement.

Mimi and I did go buy out the grocery store today to have some food on hand to feed the mass invasion.

The Kitty Justice is when the first car arrives, the panic will go hide and the hugs will begin then all the work will be history and not thought about again.

NEED TO READ ABOUT BRETT
As I was sitting in the dentist office on Thursday, I saw this magazine. I have always loved to watch this Mississippi boy play football, therefore, I picked up the magazine and started reading. Before I could get done I was called back to check out the broken tooth.
Today when I met Dr. McMillian to put the temporary back off after it came off during lunch yesterday, I picked up the magazine to finish and had just gotten started where I had left off when he was ready for me. I mentioned that I would like to finish the article and he said I could take it home and then drop it the magazine back off when I was down his way.
He is the nicest young man and I could probably be his Mother, so I brought the magazine home to finish the article and if you get a chance to read the article I would suggest you take the opportunity.
The article is very well written and it tells a short history of his life and his passion for giving back.
The Kitty Justice you never know what you will happen upon to read while waiting. The sad thing is that most people do not read as much as years gone by

MORE CHRISTMAS FROM THE HILL
THE OLD MADONNA AND NEW ANGEL ARE ON EITHER ENDS OF THE MANTLE AND I FRAMED THE CHRISTMAS TREE PAINTING IN A GOLD FRAME THAT I FOUND. THE FRAME WAS HALF PRICE SO THE BARGAIN HUNTER IN ME KICKED IN.
Mother always said it was not a bargain if you did not need it and I needed this to frame my painting.
The Christmas tree is awaiting Santa to come and place presents for all us good little boys and girls. It is fun to refer to oneself as a girl but Christmas brings out the child in all of us.
Maggie awoke me at the usually but woo hoo it was thirty minutes later than usual. I got up cleaned up the kitchen clutter, took out the recyclables, wrapped the last six fruitcakes and sweep and mopped the kitchen floor. All before coffee. Then as I was enjoying the solitude of the living room and starring at the tree, Maggie attacks the feet. We have a game like slap hands, that we use our feet and she will pull her front feet back and lay her head on the floor to keep you from slapping her front paws.
When I realized that she would not give me any peace, I came to check out all the blogs I read. I was thrilled to read that Mary's eye exam when well and Deena had made it through her surgery. Now for Deena the long road of healing. I thank God each day that through this wonderful world of blogging that I met these kind ladies.
The Kitty Justice is we should be THANKFUL FOR ALL THINGS because as the old saying goes "Here today and gone tomorrow."
Peace be with all who visits today.

SAM STATES RATHER MEOWISH "I HAVE BEEN LAYING HERE AND DO NOT KNOW HOW THAT DOLL GOT IN MIMI'S BATHROOM."
THE KITTY JUSTICE IS THIS IS A GAME WE PLAY DAILY DURING THE CHRISTMAS SEASON.

EACH HAS A MEMORY
The snowman bucket was given to me by my good pal, Pammie Poo. I use to put it by the fireplace in the living room but Sam cat kept stealing the little Scoby dog that my sister gave to Puppy when he was small.
The rabbit in the bucket was under the tree on Puppy's first Christmas. The snowman box was given to me by my oldest and dearest friend, Linda. Each year at Christmas we spend a whole day together. When Puppy was small he thought Santa was a 4' 10 " lady from Georgia.
The nutcracker was something I bought years ago when I lived alone with my two chow chows, Chu Tu and Ling Ling.
The reindeer is battery operated and will walk and the red nose glows. My Mother gave this to Puppy when he was just a tiny boy and he loved to watch it.
The Angel was another present from my best friend Linda and the cake candle was given to us by our dear neighbors. I love the smell and just will not burn it. I drag it out each year to make the house smell like Christmas.
These decorations have taken the place of the shamrocks as they were beginning to look rather limp and raggedy so they were banished to the basement. After Christmas I guess that corner will look rather empty.
Like the little red hen, I finally got the tree decorated. I finished putting the icicles on it Sunday evening then I turned out all the lights except the tree and sat and gazed at the tree. Mimi and Prince joined me on my staring mission. Yes, they had wine but I had my own design cocktail. I make it with Peach vodka and Crystal Light Sunrise. It has less calories and sugar for us diabetics so it is better for us than wine.
Saturday evening Prince and I went to his company Christmas party at an old house named Riverview out off Gallatin Road. This couple bought it and fixed it up and they have all kind of events and parties there. The couple live upstairs and Prince worked with the lady at one time. They have did alot of work since we went to Cat's daughter wedding a few years ago.
Today I took Mimi to her Garden Club party and I do believe she was the youngest member and she is 88. Most were either 90 or announced that they would soon turn ninety. It was a nice meal and I enjoyed hearing stories of by gone days. I do believe that none of them garden anymore. Thus it is a Garden Club in name only.
Before we left I baked two loaves of Amish bread and made four new starter for future loaves. When we returned we or mainly Me stirred up the first batch of fruitcakes. The batter got so stiff, Mimi went and asked Puppy to help and he whipped the remaining dry ingredients into the fruit mixture in no time flat. We got six nice cakes and we used this fresh nutmeg that my pal, Carol had given us. That will probably make them the best ever.
I know lots of folks laugh and make jokes about fruitcakes but if you have not had one of ours then you really have not had a really GOOOOOD ONE. The secret is not to be stingy with the ingredients especially the whiskey and if you really want to make them cry for more use Jack. If you do not know who Jack is then you do not know whiskey. The finest whiskey is made in Lynchburg Tennessee.
Now for a funny on Maggie. Prince was getting her to chase the squirrels off the bird feeders as he ate his breakfast. Finally Maggie went and got her Hedge hog and showed the squirrel that this is what will happen to you if I catch you. I thought Prince was gonna fall out of his chair laughing.
The Kitty Justice is that it has been a long day and now I plan to put the fur to bed.

TEA FOR CHRISTMAS

These are a couple of my Christmas teapots that I get out during this wonderful time of the year.

There is something about teapots that just make me feel good all over. I love them and I don't mind a good glass of ice tea or a cup of hot tea either. Both looking at a beautiful pot and enjoying the flavor of good tea are part of the nice things in the world.

The dirty Santa party was a really good one this year at the Bistro 215 in Green Hills. The Manager came over and apologized for not having our little private room for us as they usually have done. A new person was in charge of reservations and yes they booked two parties for the same time and day. Since Peaches, who was one of the December hostess called after the other person to confirm she had to take the second choice. We had an alcove to the left but it was not as cozy as the private room. WE HAD FUN ANYWAY.

When you get that many Women Artist together we will have fun even if we had had to set up on a dirt road.

Mz Hen was her usual late self and everyone had ordered their food and gotten it and drawn their dirty Santa number. I was lucky and got 16 so I got to watch a lot of stealing and could check out where the gifts were that I wanted to steal. It was so funny that Mz . Hen drew number one and she was constantly having to open presents and then have them stolen from her. Finally she said "Did I get number one for being late?" We all laughed at that one.

CT was rather done out as she announced "she was gonna have to buy all new winter clothes since she had gained so much weight". Usually she is the happiest one at our gathering and always has jokes to share with us. Not today. I guess being Heavier makes your mood change.

When Bunny and Peaches called each member to confirm that they were coming to the luncheon, they requested that you bring something you had painted or made. So there were lots of wonderful paintings to be stolen from each member.

Then it happen, Sister's painting that she had open was stolen and she went and picked another present and it was a bought Christmas item. Jingle bell door knockers. Cat proudly said she had made them with her own hands. We all laughed but knew full well she had gone to the store. Again that did not fit her personality as she always brings a painting.

Several more packages were opened and then it was Annie turn, she opened her package to find two boxes of nice candy but it was kind of like a kick in the teeth as most of those paintings would be worth so much later on. To me they are Priceless as they are what one of our members have created. She quickly asked "just who made these chocolates, Spent all day in the Kitchen Huh. Mz. Fire in a sheepish voice and she was sitting to my right, said "Sorry."

Sister's and Annie's gifts would not be stolen and I knew how they felt as last year only about half of the ladies brought paintings or something they had made and Mz. Ann and I got store bought items. I hated it since Mz Ann was so disappointed with her gift because it was her last Christmas with us. Bless her she is now painting the skies for us all to enjoy. I wish I had gotten that beautiful painting that Mz Ann brought to the luncheon last year. Maybe I can get Bruce ,her son, to let me buy something she had done. I miss her very much. She was the most proper lady I had ever met. So it was very odd to hear of her displeasure with the gift she got at the luncheon last year. Very out of character.

It finally came my turn , so Mz PB & J had had CT beautiful scene painting stolen by Jingles so I thought I would just take it from Jingles. The items can be stolen 3 times and then they are retired. There were not many numbers after mine and I thought it would be safe with me. Not! Bunny took it as she followed me. So I could either steal or open one of the two presents let unopened and one of those was my painting so I thought I would rather steal.

Barbie had her painting hidden under the table but I remember it was Bunny's painting so I took it with no regrets and then she had to either open or steal. She stole Jingles painting and that retired CT painting.

Da Ford had to either steal or open so she took the last present to be open and it was mine. I was beginning to feel a little forlorn as no one wanted that package. I made a note to package it not in Blue next year.

The ladies all liked the handmade Christmas cards that I had worked so hard preparing and Cat even stated that it was a good day when I joined the group with all my ideas and talent.

After the luncheon, I took Knoxie her card and raspberry jam I had made for her to her home and visited with her and her hubby. Her BP is out of whack and the meds are being changed to see if it can be controlled better. Bless her heart she is the tiniest member but tall so she looks like a stick person so it is hard to fathom that her BP is so high.

When I got home I spent time with Mimi watching her favorite soap opera. I will NEVER ever watch another one after she is gone. However, she likes it and it gives us something to share together.

Prince said traffic was awful so we were an hour late getting to the Exhibit. We were told the crowd was constant for the entire two hours. We stayed until it closed.

It was funny the first people we saw was Cat and her hubby, Frankie and we had a really nice visit with them. I was careful not to say anything about store bought presents at the luncheon.

The Kitty Justice is when we got home , Prince built us a fire downstairs and we watched one of the high school play off games. A peaceful end to a hectic day.

NOW
THEN AND TWO YEARS AGO.

I THOUGHT I WOULD PUT OUR WEDDING PICTURE AND OUR PICTURE WHEN WE WENT TO THE SYMPHONY BUT SOMEHOW I ALSO GOT THE ONE TWO YEARS AGO AT A FRIENDS CHRISTMAS PARTY.

ALSO WHEN I TRIED THE FIRST TIME I GOT THE LITTLE RED X SO WHEN I PUBLISH THE POST THERE MAY BE TWO PICTURES OF NOW DISPLAYED.

THE KITTY JUSTICE IS THAT DECEMBER 7TH WILL BE A WONDERFUL DAY FOR ME EVEN THOUGH ITS HISTORY IS NOT.

AH A DOGS LIFE
Maggie is so happy when she returns with the paper that you cannot see her entire tail as it is wagging too fast.
After her treats and her nibbles (blue berries and Cheerios) from Mimi, she is ready for her morning nap.
She does not mind her Christmas collar and she jingles all the way around the house. At noon, I take the collar off as I want her to show it off at Christmas when all the other doggies are here.
Besides with that collar she cannot sneak upon Sam Cat because he can really hear her coming.
Yesterday was Mimi's hair day and Senior Day at Kroger so there was not much time for anything else.
I guess I will go green for Christmas as the Fraser fir is still standing without any decoration or lights. Just a giant be green tree.
I will make Confetti Dip today for the Art Center reception tomorrow night . My SIL gave me the recipe. I will share it with you.
Confetti Dip
1- 15 oz can yellow corn, drained
1-15 oz can black beans, drained
1-14 oz jar salsa (you choose mild or spicy it is your dip)
1/3 cup Italian dressing
Mix all together and refrigerate over night. Serve with chips.
Enjoy.
The Kitty Justice is I cannot sleep the morning away like Maggie.

BLUE VIEW IS A 4x6
MZ. SPRING IS A 24X30

TURKS CAP IS A 8X10
I have framed the Blue View, which is a signature picture of the view from the hill, I have painted numerous of these in different colors and styles . I know it so well, I do not even need a picture to paint from anymore. This one will be given away as a Dirty Santa gift at the Art Ventures Christmas luncheon.
Mz. Spring and Turks Cap have been signed and Turks Cap has been framed and I will take them today to the Art Center to be put in the Christmas Exhibit which will run from December 7Th through the 28Th. I might get lucky and someone will buy them. That would be a great way to end 2007.
I hope I make it to the Center without any mishaps as the morning started off rather ruff. First of all, I was heading toward the coffee pot with the basket full of coffee and I BUMP the side of the silly pot and up in the air goes all the coffee. What a mess to start the day.
Next, I was gonna cut the top off one of the recycle cans and low and behold the stuff in the door was jammed and I had to work at it to get it open. Finally I got it open and lots of jar lids had been stuffed in that drawer so I took them all out to be put with the other lids high up in the cabinet.
I have now had my coffee and fixed lunches so next order of business will be what I have nicknamed "THE STOCKINGS FROM HELL" . I have gotten faster and better at putting the stockings on Mimi and if she had not said "they make her legs feel better" I would be figuring out a way to not have that job on a daily basis. When my back hurts so bad, I head for the massage pad before I do anything else.
Also, do any of you realize how a few dark chocolate M&M at night can make your blood sugar go haywire for days. I had a few of them last week and my waking blood sugar was the highest it has ever been. Then the next few days it did not go down but 20 points. So I went back on 2 pills a day. Remember the Doctor told me if I suffered from one of the bad side effects to stop the morning pill.
Well, I did suffer that side effect so I had stopped the morning pill as my waking blood sugar was normal. Not after M&M. He does not wish for me to take my blood sugar every morning so since the bad numbers have appeared I have not taken it for several days. I will do it tomorrow just like Scarlett.
The good news is the house smells like Christmas. We got our tree Sunday before the rain and the pleasant odors fill the house. I will probably put the lights on tomorrow and then spend Thursday decorating it. I love to put on Christmas songs as I decorate.
The Kitty Justice is that I have not had to take any PERIPHERAL JOURNEYS SO FAR THIS WEEK.

LOG HOUSE PAINTING

SINCE MY FRIEND MERLE LIKE THE BELL AND COMMENTED, I THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE A SNOW PAINTING OF IT THIS MORNING.

I think I overdosed on football games yesterday. First University of Tennessee, my school, played Louisiana State University for the Southeastern Conference Championship. UT lost 21-14 to LSU.

Then there was the Oregon Ducks playing Oregon State Beavers and all the commentators were referring to it as The Civil War. The Beavers won in double overtime. First time since 1993.

Then it was Oklahoma playing Mizzou and Mizzou was rated Number 1 team in the nation. I think Mizzou won but at this point my mind was fuzzy with football overload.

At 10:30 pm Hawaii played Washington. It was not over until the wee hours of the morning. Hawaii finally won. I must admit Prince watched it all but I fell asleep during some of the games. At 2:30 this Morning person went to bed. Might have well stayed up.

At the appointed time of 5 am Maggie started whining to go out. I rolled over and told her to go back to sleep. Almost every thirty minutes she was back and finally before 7 I got up.

The wind was worse than the other day and it was blowing the tears from my eyes. I let her go ahead an get the paper as I did not wish to return out in my housecoat in the wind. The paper was HUGE, over half of it was ads as to what stores have on sale. I gave Maggie extra beggin strips for bringing back such a huge paper.

As I began making coffee, etc. etc. I took the recycles out and the door shut behind me and it was locked. The kitty justice is that I am THANKFUL that Prince was too tired to diligent check the doors to see if they were locked so I did not have to wake anyone to get back inside. THOSE OF YOU WHO KNOW PRINCE KNOW THAT THIS IS VERY VERY VERY RARE.

Lucky Kitty so now I need to buy a lottery ticket. Now that would be RARE FOR ME.

MORE DECORATIONS. Our front door. I usually add different picks etc to the wreaths each year. I got the white poinsettia string and wove it into the green garland and added the gold balls this year. The gold bells on the lights were my Mother's and she would put them up in the windows and plug them in. I do not light them up as they are over forty years old and I wish to keep them in as good a shape as possible so I can put them out each year in her memory. She loved Christmas.
Prince located this old seeder in a gully on the farm. I think it is beautiful and has lots of character. This is the first year I have decorated it and we had gotten some rope lights but I could not figure out how to make it look nice so I abandon the idea of lights.

Mother liked to stick Christmas decoration in the ground and again the tree and reindeer were hers and they are beginning to wear and fade BUT I put them out anyway along with candy canes.

I had an extra red bow so waste not, I tied it to the old bell. Frank (our friend and farm tenant for over forty years) and I poured the concrete and built the bell tower. He took a boom on the tractor and hung the bell.

The front of the Log Cabin which sits next to our house. Lots of people have lived here and Prince and I started our married life here. After Puppy was born, we lived over two more years here. Puppy's baby bed was in one corner and our bed another in the middle section.

A full view of the cabin. It has three levels and lots more room than you can tell when you first see it. If you look close, you can see that the basement extends out pass the back of the upper levels. Down in the basement is the living area, dining area, bath and kitchen. There is a concrete porch at the back of the kitchen and it is a nice place to sit and drink coffee and watch the world come alive.
As I was taking pictures, Maggie ran off which is not like her. I spent over an hour looking for her and calling her name. By this time my whole body ached so I hobbled back up the drive to be greeted by Maggie. She stood up from her favorite area of the yard, near the bench under the pin oak tree and watched me hobbled up the drive. As I rounded the curve she figured that out it was me and came running. I was near tears so I was happy to see her.
The Kitty Justice is to aways check to see if she has circled back and gotten under the box woods to dig to China. There are TWO GIANT HOLES under the boxwood right at the front door. I did not have the energy to cover them up so guess what I will be doing today.

WISHING FOR A WHITE CHRISTMAS.
THIS IS HOW IT LOOKS ALTHOUGH I WISH THE DECORATIONS THAT I PUT OUT YESTERDAY IT WOULD SNOW ON THEM.

I put out more decorations yesterday but have not taken a picture yet. However, the last picture is the way it looks. Sunny and cool. Yesterday we reached 68 degrees which was a prefect time to decorate outside.

Today the wind is blowing but still the sun is out to fool you and when you step outside any loose clothing goes whipping in the breeze. It is to be a 46 degrees today. So glad I got out yesterday and did what little I could to make it appear we have Christmas Cheer.

My big wind chime on the bottom porch has a deep constant ring. The whirley gig looks like a giant cork screw and the wind mills is turning so fast it appears to be solid.

My shamrocks in previous blog look so bad that they have been taken to the basement today and I brought up some more decorations to put in that corner. I am trying not to go over board but it seems when I get started I just keep dragging items out to put here or there.

I brought up the Nativity Scene which is really old and put it in the dining room for Mimi to arrange the figures after I brave the elements and go pick up some pine straw to put in the manger.

The Kitty Justice is that decorating for Christmas is like a snowball heading DOWNHILL.
