Prince has lots of hats and I keep putting the "give me" hats in boxes and storing them in the closets.

Each year he picks one hat that he will wear and after several weeks of wear and mowing, his hat becomes as dusty and dirty as if it had been left on a dirt road with high traffic.

Suffering from the same illness as Grandma Christian, I sometimes get hung up on cleaning things. I do not have the full disorder, Compulsive Cleaning but some days it sneaks up and whacks me in the head.

Last week, I had one of those days. Puppy hides out when I get the clean gene going full throttle. I looked at the dusty and dirty hat and knew I could fix it. I put it in a pail of hot water with Biz and let it soak for a few hours. Then I scrubbed the brim with a bush and it was as good as new. I hung it over the faucet in the bath to keep its shape and drip dry.

When Prince got home and played with Maggie, he went to wash his hands. I heard the cry of a hurt man "OH NO" OH NO". Being very concerned with his cry of distress, I ran to see what was the matter. He was looking at his dripping hat as if it had DIED.

I could not believe his reaction as I was so proud that it had come clean. I asked "Why are you so upset?" He proceeded to tell me that now it looked as if he had not done any work. Still mystified about his reaction, I proudly spoke of how it would not cause any rash from being so dirty.

He still had that "hurt puppy dog look" and all night long he would lament about how it looks as if he has not done any work.

The kitty justice is that you do not mess with a man's tools or TEXAS. I was aware of those facts but now I know you do not mess with a man's HAT either. I wonder if he will wear it this weekend.

The clean cut football player has a beard and wears his glasses more than his contacts.

At 8:17 Puppy will turn twenty. Ah, the useless and worthless teenage years are over. Real adulthood has begun.

I asked if he wished to go out to celebrate his advancing age and he quickly requested that I fix him a baked potato and a steak. That was a compliment to my cooking.

He wishes to rent a movie and watch it after dinner. What a nice way to spend his day. He can celebrate with friends this weekend.

The two ladies in the picture with him is his Mimi in yellow and his adopted Grandmother. When Mz Dodie and Mr. Jim were staying in the little cabin while their condo was being completed, they did not have any grandchildren. Puppy was five at the time and they adopted him and he adopted them.

He would tell me that he was gonna watch television and when I would start looking for him, he would be at the cabin watching old movies with them. They now have eight grandchildren of their own but still claim Puppy as number one.

The Kitty Justice is that their daughter was glad they practiced on Puppy as they are wonderful grandparents but how else could they be since they are wonderful people. Also, the kitty justice is that if Puppy gets older so do the rest of us.

For the last week, Maggie has really shown her dog side.

First of all, not once but three times, she found glue traps to chew up. This was bad enough as the glue would get all over her whiskers and mouth and front paws. Puppy would hold her as I cleaned her off.

The first time I forgot what the Orkin man said to use so I used rubbing alcohol. It got the sticky off but she was not happy.

When the Orkin man came to spray this month, he said use oil to get the glue off Maggie. Such as baby oil, cooking oil as any kind of oil would remove the sticky.

Good thing he told us the remedy as he had not gotten down the drive until I saw her with another glue trap on her bed in the front hall. I swatted her on the nose with a magazine I had in hand and told her "Bad Dog". She immediately went to her crate and hid out for a few hours.

Last night Maggie wanted to play and Prince was too tired as he had cut grass all day. I played with her awhile with the squeaky toys but my back was not up to continuous bending to pick up the toys to toss.

Prince and I heard her at the same time and we said in unison "What has she got"
Well as you can see by the picture, I will be heading to the cell phone store to replace my mangled phone.

The Kitty Justice is you do not leave anything down within Maggie's reach.

Maggie awoke me at 6 AM wishing to take her morning run. Since I was up, I perked the coffee and watered the plants on the back porch while coffee was getting ready.

The Sunday paper is way tooooo big for Maggie to carry so I took the dummy paper down for her to retrieve and picked up the Sunday paper. As I was on my mission, Maggie awoke Prince who could not figure out why she was in such a dither.

Maggie still runs down the hill but comes back up with a more relaxed gate. After , her payment of beggin strips and a big dog biscuit, we took our coffee outside .

Prince was saying what a nice day it was when "The across the border bunch arrived to cut Senior Pat's grass." It was early Sunday morning and the beautiful solitude was broken by grass cutter. Most usually we are at early Church so we do not get to hear the singing of mowers and weed eaters .Why would anyone who was considerate have lawn care done early before 7AM on Sunday. I guess the main word in considerate.

After the silence was broken we headed indoors and I fixed breakfast. We had the good fortune of getting to eat the preserves from our labor.

Since the second back operation where screws and rods were inserted, I cannot stand, sit or lay too long or else I will suffer so alas all that standing to do the preserves got the best of me.

The Kitty Justice is that I will have dropsy day. Ever time I see a bed I will drop down on it. If it is true that your spine opens and you get one to two inches taller, I will surely be seven feet by this evening.

When I got up and looked out this morning , I just had to share the morning sky with all of you.

Today was preserve making day on the hill. Mimi and I made 35 jars of preserves and a couple of left overs to put on our morning toast.

The blackberries are tame ones without the thorns and are easy to pick but those raspberries bushes you need a set of carhart overalls to pick them.

The thorns are like little tiny fish hooks and once they grab you they will not let go. Therefore, if you get a jar of raspberry preserves from me, I must really like you.

The Easter freeze got the cherries but we were lucky to have some left in the freezer so we intend to do Cherry Preserves next.

The Kitty Justice is that if you get a jar of preserves as a gift you are getting a little part of me without the FUZZ.

Kitty enjoys the blog of Merle
because she is a pearl

Her quotes and jokes
Are done for us special folks

Her throat may be sore
But she is never a bore

If close she be
She would get soup from me

Tissues for her sneeze
Poses instead of weeds

Here are some Moon flowers to make you smile
Just rest a little while.

Tomorrow will be another day
So we can all compose and play.

There is no Kitty Justice in these words. Just wishes for a healthy Merle.

Besides y'all gotta get well as the Grand Daughters are coming.

Prince and I went outside on the porch at 9:52 and looked to the Northwest sky.

It was a very pleasant night with a few wispy clouds but lots of openings for stars to show through.

At the precise time, the satellite appeared and it was not as bright as we had hoped because Atlantis had already disengaged and was following behind the satellite in the same orbit.

As we stood with wine glasses in hand to toast the crew, Prince comment was "How many people do you think watched it?"

Tonight the sky will have them show up in the North headed in East with a four minute duration.

If you would like to check it out in your area, go to

This morning on the news, they showed the crew of the Atlantis and it was almost like we were getting to know them after seeing their flight last night.

The Kitty Justice is that most of you were inside last night and really did not get to check out the real nightlife in the sky.

I am six years older than him but before it was fashionable for women to hunt, he was dragging me all over steep hillsides. We have spent many a happy moments out in the wilderness and then gone for pecan pie and coffee.

He is not a very tall man and for some reason, he will be minding his own business and others will try to bully him.

As a young child of five, we did not do him any favors by dressing him in Buster Brown outfits and sending him to school. A many of fights ensued with him defending his boyhood.

He has been a diabetic for years and needless to say he does not take kindly to anyone who wishes to do him harm.

The story is funnier when he tells it but I will try to do it justice. One day he pulled out onto highway 111 going into Cookeville and these two men in another car thought he cut them off. So the following too close began.

They tailgated him and sent obscene jester and cussed him all the way into town. Since highway 111 is a four lane highway, he slowed up hoping they would go around him but that just made them madder and they continued with their rude jesters.

Being short with a Kirby temper kicked into play and little brother shot them a BIRD. Still they continued right on his bumper yelling four letter epithets.

When little brother got into the city limits, he pulled off at the first gas station so he would not have to endure any more of their company.

Those two idiots pulled in the gas station and the driver got out still cussing my little brother and headed in little brothers direction.

Little Brother said "Now wait a minute fellow, what is your problem?" More cussing ensued.

Now my little brothers word is like money in the bank. If he says he will do something he will do it. He never says anything that he does not mean.

As the driver continue to approach little brother, he told him "I do not know what your problems is but I have a glock automatic here and if you take another step in my direction, I will put a hole in you big enough to throw a dog through".

It was like a light bulb had gone off in the passengers head and he yelled at his buddy "I don't think he is kidding".

The Kitty Justice is that the driver stopped abruptly and turned and got back into his car never to be seen again.

I think I might have one big enough to blow a hole large enough to throw a cat through. Nuf said.

For Father's Day I picked up this cute little gas pump for Prince . With gas prices this was the biggest pump I could afford.

The hanging baskets were presents to me from Prince. He first got two of the dark pink , one for his sister who was going back home to Mississippi and one for me. I wish I had gotten the picture of him smiling as he was bringing them to the house from his truck. When she left the next morning, I took the closest one to the door and packed it for the journey down south. Within a few days of looking at that empty spot, Prince came home from work with the deep purple one.

The Kitty Justice is that some day a cute little gas pump is all any of us can afford and "Don't you wish your Prince would be so thoughtful and spontaneous as mine?" I am a lucky Kitty.

I never dreamed I would let a dog sleep on my bed but alas here she lays.

She loves the Dale and Little E blanket and besides it keeps my white summer bedspread from becoming fuzzy black.

She is a smart girl and does not get up on the bed until the blanket is in place.

The Kitty Justice is that she is fast and has some great moves but does not have a number 3 painted on her side.

In the left corner by the door, lives Felix the Toad. He has made his home at day in one of my flowerpots. I noticed his residency as I was trimming the dead from my bird nest fern.

At night he crawls from his pot and jumps up on the window seal. He takes time about which window he will take up post. He really likes the one right next to the door but Maggie tries to introduce herself to him each time she goes for a walk. I always say "No No Maggie" and she runs along on her personal errand.

The blue plumbago is really pretty this year that is why I included it and also you need a close up after viewing it from afar.

Dear Felix has been around several years and each year he gets bigger. He is currently larger than hand size.

The Kitty Justice is that he visits each night and eats the bugs that come to the window. Wonder if he has any buddies?

There were lots of tall bushes about 3 to 4 feet tall at the turn around so yesterday I put on my farmers outfit and proceeded to whack them down. I stepped back and was amazed how much just a few bush removals would open it up.

Then I proceeded to clean out the iris beds. One of which is in the right corner. I do not march to the drum that you have to cut them off in a fan shape as many gardeners because I feel they appear natural to leave the leaves alone.

I know it does not appear to be six hours of work but it was with an hour in between for a cooling off and lunch break. We have really been lucky the last few days because we have not had the humidity which comes with this time of year. The weather has been eighty-sixty weather. On top of that we have had a really nice breeze.

What we need now is rain and as I was walking around on the earth taking pictures, it felt like I was on concrete and not ground. The weather peoples keep saying there is no chance of rain for the next seven days. I guess I will get out early tomorrow and water.

The kitty justice is that it was hard work but visual effects were worth all the pain.

This is Mimi's love. He rarely sits for a picture and has been hiding out since we have had dogie company.

Mimi at 88 is still quick with her humor. We were advised by email a couple of days ago that an auctioneer would die and go to Heaven if a certain piece of our history was offered for sale. Upon hearing this Mimi stated "It is not our job to get them to Heaven."

Sam is like most animals who live on the hill, he is spoiled. Mimi feeds him shaved oven roasted turkey as a treat. It is serve on an antique dish and if I happen to need a small plate and I am near that cabinet, I always proclaim I will use Sam's dish.

Every afternoon Sam and Mimi take a nap and if she gets up and he is still in bed she covers him up. Sometimes in the mornings he does not get up right away so she cannot make up her bed.

He loves to hunt and has been quite successful of late. Instead of shutting the sliding door completely to the porch from her room, she left it ajar so Sam could come in whenever he wanted and In he came with a mouse. He had played with it until it was tired.

Mimi called for my assistance and I located the mouse in a corner of her closet. The mouse proceeds to come out of the closet head down the hall and make a sharp right into the other hallway. Then he makes a quick left into the first bedroom. Now here I am asking Puppy and Mimi to get a glue trap and they are off to search for one while I follow the varmint's progress around the room. Finally, he goes into the closet and luckily there is a glue trap and he becomes stuck.

Sam was sitting back with the cat grin "Why are you bothering my mouse?"

The kitty justice was the mouse was caught and Mimi avoided a dither and she does not leave her door ajar for Sam.

First of all, Joe Biddle of the Nashville Tennessean should be given an award for his article Saturday June 9. Y'all can read it by going to

My claws do not come out often but they are ready to scratch No. 7 off Michael Vick's uniform. For those who do not know who he is, he is a black quarterback of the Atlanta Falcon's NFL football team. The leader for the team. Children look up to.

Since he is black the race card is being played by his lawyers. HA. His alleged crime is DOG FIGHTING. That does not have anything to do about race just out and out cruelty. If 48 states consider dog fighting a felony what about the other two?

Where is Peta, people against animal cruelty, the media and Bob Barker? Oh, I forget the media is showing stupid antics of an even stupider white rich girl.

Why is DirtyRagz selling T-shirts on ebay featuring a pit bull with No 7 football in its mouth? It is called "Ron Mexico's Dirty Bird Dog Fighting" shirt and sells for $14.95. For those who bought this shirt, may your skin rub off.

When Michael Vick was tested for a sexually transmitted disease he did not sign his name but Ron Mexico. That my dumb football player makes you guilty. So why cry RACE. I hate it when someone hides behind their race.

I like football but I will not watch any Falcons game as long as he is a player. I urge all to boycott the game and him.

Our friend advised us that he heard that they throw the dogs in a pit and sometimes it takes over an hour for one to be killed or murdered. I get sick at my stomach just thinking there are such cruel humans in a so called civilized society.

The kitty justice would be to drop the people who are betting on such inhuman games in the pit and let them fight to the death. I vote for Michael Vick to be the first one dropped.

I am back to normal with my nice big girl computer. It really works better than ever since Mr. David put her back together again. Oh, fiddle lee dee I have given my computer a gender and will have to give her a good name.

We met at China Cottage and the meal was wonderful. My seafood and veggies came in a potato bowl lined in cabbage leaves. Shredded cabbage surrounded the bowl to make it appear to be a nest. On the side was a big bunch of parsley topped with a beautiful turnip rose.

I was so excited that I insisted that Prince and I come straight home. He had to add a few little soft wares and then all is well in kitty land.

The kitty justice is I am so happy I could PURRRRRRRRRR.

Pepper's family came home today from Alabama so the little dog gave up his residence on Puppy's pillow. Pepper is nine and not very active but she is a sweet little dog.

Cricket, a tiny Yorker will miss Pepper. But I am sure she will soon take up residence on Puppy's bed.

Neither of the little dogs are very comfortable with Maggie. Since Maggie is still very much a puppy, not nine months old yet. Maggie would look with longing eyes at those two little fur muffins. All she wanted to do was play with them but neither wanted to become her new toy.

Today was Senior Day at Kroger so need I say more. While we were gone, each dog had a bedroom. Only Cricket had a bed on the floor.

We have had more rooms shut off than I can ever remember. Sam Cat has stayed in hiding except the few times he has gone out on the back porch.

We will try to let Cricket and Maggie visit each other in the living room this weekend.

The best news ever is that David has fixed my computer. Just think soon I can bore y'all with pictures again.

The Kitty Justice is that my paws will no longer need a massage when I type. I cannot wait to get to type on an adult keyboard.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you David.

NEXT: To get the nice box home.

First of all, if you do not know about Franklin, Tennessee you really need to look it up. The historic district is worth the price of admission. Also, to sober oneself you can take a short trip over to the Confederate Cemetery. And yes there has been lots of hoopla about the Confederate Statue in the middle of the square.

I must say why can everyone but a southern speak proudly of their heritage. But that is another story.

As I was driving down highway 96 it was sad to see all the fertile farmland being overtaken with housing developments. I keep thinking they are like mushrooms just popping up any ole where. Gentry farms is still surving amongst them and that is a blessing. More children who do not know about farms will get to go pick out a pumpkin this fall and see what it is like to run through the maze.

At Leiper Forks exit there was a large grey flat bed truck with a huge banner "Strawberries". I was running late but I made a mental note to stop on the way home.

Highway 96 dead ends at 5Th Ave. and I need to go to 3rd Ave. So I just headed straight across 5Th and got to 3rd and turned right. I had to go around the Square and I admired the Man in Gray standing tall. I was almost pass Lillie Belle's when I spotted a spot right out front. I checked the rear view mirror and backed the Silver Bullet up about 10 feet and slided her into the parallel spot. I checked the right mirror and noted I would need to see saw her into the curb a wee bit closer.

This done I grabbed my hat with a silk multicolor scarf tied around it and I had a silver rose pin attached to the front. I should have worn a skirt but had on white carpi's with a turquoise top.

As most old homes it had tall ceilings and a fireplace in every room. I was told to go through the room on the left and our group Art Ventures was in the next room.

Mz Fire, Peaches and Bunny were already there so I took up residence beside Peaches. But I had to check out the rose garden to the side. I went out with the owner as she was out to clip a few roses for a table. There was a railing cover with a pretty heart shape vine and then a wooden archway covered with white roses. She pointed out a dove at the top which had plans on starting a family. On the other side were bush after bush of dark pink roses.

Neither of my table buddies had moved so I walked around our room checking out the decor. On a white mantel there were 2 tall vases and some little blue and pink ceramic shoes and of course teapots. On the side table underneath they had at least a dozen or more different teapots. In the far corner above a floor white wicker lamp was a white shelf with a black and white teapot. The old wall sconces had the candles removed and were replaced by matching pink and white teapots.

Our table had glass over the table cloth and underneath were old pictures of the family who built the house. Old postcards and wedding invitations. Lucky J came in and sat at the table to our side. I still want to send her back to Milwaukee because the last time I attended, a parting sentence by M & M to me was"THAT I HAD INSPIRED LUCKY J TO PAINT A GEISHA GIRL." I wanted to yell at her after working on my girls for three years I did not wish to see my idea being stolen by a so called art buddy. Needless to say I took a cue from Mother and did not say anything to Lucky J. Not even a nice southern howdy.

Shirley came in and asked if anyone was sitting next to me and I advised that the seat was not taken. In her previous life she was a school teacher and I found out lots of the Art Venture group have that lurking in their past. I have never known anyone who had a SUPER BOWL RING and her husband has one and he played with Bart Starr on the winning Green Bay Packers team. I am impressed and when I first found out about it I told Prince before he could get in the front door.

Mz Hen and Knoxie were the hostess this month and we heard Mz Hen before she hit the door. In the south if you start off with Bless their heart you can get away with saying anything. So here I go. Bless Mz Hen's Heart she talks constantly. In all fairness she is almost brilliant so I really think all that knowledge just overtakes the tongue. I really need to just go somewhere with her as a one on one and just listen. However, in a group you wish to converse with most all except Lucky J.

Mz. Hen had just gotten back from a trip to England and Scotland and she should have brought the slides. Finally all arrived, and Mz Hen instead of taking the extra chair with Cat, Mz Ann, and CT she asked Mz Fire who Bless her heart is not tiny to move over and let her sit with us.

Bunny was telling a story about going to the doctors office and them asking for her email address and she pronounced herself "COMPUTER FREE". I laughed and said what a good phrase.

Peaches started telling us about her two little loves, Molly & Maggie and before she could get through with the story Mz Hen was telling us about her poor sick little dog.

At this point I saw the empty table that we had left in the room had been filled with a Volunteer from the shop and her granddaughters. Being the Pres and also being a friendly southern except to Lucky J, I went over and she introduced me to two of the cutest little Alabama girls that I ever saw.

When I returned to my seat, I leaned over and told Shirley that the lady was a Volunteer with the shop. Small world. Shirley wanted to know about the shop so I gave her a brief history about Episcopal women starting it up over 35 years ago to help the children at St. Luke's. She informed me she was Methodist.

I explained that my Fathers side were Church of Christ but he was an outcast due to him being a rounder and Mother was a Methodist but Uncle Harold and Aunt Ilene took my sister and I to a small Baptist church in Horseshoe Bend. I told her no sprinkling for me, I was baptised in the Caney Fork river. It was a strong belief that it had to be running natural water and besides no baptismal pool could be afforded by such a small country Church. Then as I got older I went to a Methodist Church due to it proximity to our house and later I almost convert to Catholicism but got upset with a pushy Nun so here I am an Episcopalian.

Afterwards we moved our cars to the FREE parking garage the city has for the historic district and we went around the shops. First stop was a new gallery, Elm Street Gallery. When I got to the gallery all by myself, M&M, Shirley and Sister were there admiring the artwork. As I tooled around checking it all out, they left and then Peaches and Bunny arrived and in tow was Mz Hen.

She talked on and on and on and I wanted to pretend I was the King in the play "The King and I " and go ETC. ETC ETC.

After the she took us to the furniture store where the girls father makes most of the furniture, she had to be off to take care of her sick puppy.

Peaches found out I had never been to PD'S so Bunny & I jumped into Peaches car and headed down first street at the end of which was an old depot and at first I thought where is Sanford and his son? The parking lot was a dusty gravel spot and we were lucky it was not raining.Inside they had lots of neat high end stuff stacked everywhere. I did not find anything I could not live without. Bunny found some Pussy willows to put in some tall vases .

On the way home the truck was still there so I pulled the Silver Bullet off as far as possible as the traffic was really heavy and the farmer was selling a quart for $5 or a gallon for $15. I asked where his farm was and he said Lebanon and I told him my sister lives up there and gave him the co-ordinates. He lived further out.

The Kitty Justice is I was the only one who wore a hat and had a cup of Ginger Peach Tea. Is that not what you are suppose to do at a southern tea house?

The waitress handed me my ticket with the phrase "I remember you are the HOT Tea". Everyone LOL.
