THESE PICTURES WERE TAKEN LAST YEAR I COULD NOT GET OUT AND TAKE IT THIS MORNING.

The adversary was invisible and I kept ingnoring his presents. Like the MEAN germ he happens to be he shuck up behind me and laid me flat. I have a very strong stomach but he was having non of that so alas he pop my bubble.
At least last night the covers did not hurt and I could curl up without pillows to cushion my forlegs and hind quarters. But Kitty Justice is still as weak as any little new born kitten.
At five this morning, I finally made it to the kitchen and ate some jello that Mimi had made me and that stayed down so I perked some coffee. I fixed me a cup and pulled a chair up beside the kitchen doors to watch one of my favorite things, the sunrise.

The coffee was bitter but I sipped it slowly and watched the reds outline the blue hills in the background. Up above was a dark purple cloud with different shades of orange underneath. I sat and used my imaginary brush to paint my make believe canvas. I could reach into my paint box and grab each color that the Master was showing me this morning and if it was not there in true form, I would mix the colors to get the correct shade to continue my painting.

As the deep reds turned to orange and yellow, I noticed that the clouds to the left on the horizon looked like some of the mountain tops in Marcel's pictures. Ah, an illusion of nature. The meadow looked like dirty snow and when it got lighter I saw we had had a hard frost. The large walnuts and oak trees took on darken images againist the lighten sky. A squirrel skired down the large oak and the birds began to arrive to entertain us while they fill their stomachs.

Then it happen the sun came out in full force but where I sat it was like a bright giant eye in the forks of the big oak. I looked to the left and the clouds had disappeared into fleathery wings of a butterfly.

The kitty justice is who says you cannot paint without a brush.

I love the "year old" shots. How neat it looks with a little fog (or haze) in the valleys and the sun lighting up a brand NEW DAY! I hope you start feeling better! ~ jb///

Thank you. I feel better today but whenever I eat anything my tummy feels like I have swallowed a whole yard of BRICKS. So I have been relying on lots of lemon lime diet soda. You know you can't keep a good Kitty down especially if she is handing out Justice.

Thanks for stopping by and I admire anyone who can do your job for the last thirty nine years. Shelby is a cutie.

Hi Lady Di,

I'm posting the answer to your questions from my blog here too. I'm glad you are better today!!!! I hope you are even better on Monday!

Here it is:

Your post proves that there are many regional considerations. Also keep in mind there are many types of cedar. Red cedar is commonly grown only on the west coast and is often called western red cedar for that reason. In your part of the country I believe that your cedar is sometimes called white cedar and as I understand it is not really a cedar at all, but a pine? I do know that white cedar is nowhere near s resistant to bugs as red cedar.

Here in Sitka we have Alaskan yellow cedar. Red cedar grows along the cost but not as far north as Sitka. Yellow cedar is even more rot resistant than red and keeps the bugs out better too. The bad news is that yellow cedar is very regional and all yellow cedar harvest today is old growth as there is very little 2nd growth. Yellow cedar is also a very slow growing tree, and is on the decline more than likely because of global warming.

As for your countertops, that too is a regional thing. Here in Alaska the cost of transporting any stone here is prohibitive. That is why we use a synthetic product. I would have liked to use granite or soapstone, but the freight was going to kill us.

FYI: Soapstone is the material used for most chemistry tables in classrooms and labs all over the world. Soapstone is used because it is very stain resistant. Some of the best soapstone in the world comes from the New England states so it may not be too expensive for you.

Also Tennessee has lots of limestone, and I would assume some marble. So those stones might be good for you. I do know in Europe we have seen both marble and limestone used on countertops and we have seen some that are over 100years old. So, I’d guess that could be a good choice for you. Since whatever you use will need to be installed by a pro, do your best to find a reputable dealer. They will be able to give you good advice if they are honest.

Good luck!

Thanks and now I have lots more info to digest. You are a smart man and I value your opinion. The young man who is doing the work is a master woodworker. I have six pc of his furniture work sitting around in the house. I need to put them on the blog. But he will not be the one to do the counters just the redesign. He is ready to start on the cabinets but I have put it off until I can do a little more research and get ready for the CLUTTER.
PEACE AND AGAIN THANK YOU.

Thanks for the get well wishes. I made a wrong choice and had a few horsey dervies during our Super Bowl. I saw Tom Brady play when we went to visit our friends in Ann Arbor Mi and have been a fan of his ever since so I was crushed to see his winning season come to a close with a lost at the big dance. I was the only one around the kitchen table for the Patriots the other four were yelling for New York or rather Eli.
I have painted that scence so often that I now number them.
Peace

Thanks for the well wishes. I will have to look at these pictures today for any sunshine. As we say in the south "It is raining cats and dogs." Tomorrow even worse as we will get up to an unual warm temperature of 72 which is way above normal and we are to have rain and high winds. The last one is what I do not like because with the conditions tornadoes are born. I have lived 58 years without that experience and hope to end my days never to have that experience. Some things we can live without.
