Prince, Mimi and I took a little tour of the Redbuds in bloom on the Trace last evening before dark. All the pictures were taken after we crossed the big bridge. From beginning our tour from Highway 100 to the exit to Highway 96 both sides of the Trace were covered with these beautiful trees.
When we were driving along I had this nagging thought that God must be kin to Hazel King as she is always saying "When in doubt use purple."
The kitty justice is why name them Redbuds when they are indeed Purple.

BEAUTIFUL!!! Maybe someone was a wee bit color blind and Redbud flowed better than Purplebud.
You do have a beautiful blog. MB

Your photos are awesome as usual! The redbud is our state tree, we have a few more days before they are in bloom. I hope they are as beautiful as the ones in your photos. Just a thought here...the actual "bud" is red on these trees (I have several) They bloom purple. Have a grand day!(hows the ear?)

Lady Di,

Whatever they are called, they are beautiful. Are they fragrant? We have similar trees that bloom in May and they are highly fragrant. I'm glad you enjoyed your ride.

Blessings,
Mary
Very, very pretty.....that spash of color just pops out at you!

I have never smelled a redbud so I must venture out and put my nose to the buds. We do have some wonderful blooming things now that have heavenly sence. Vibernam (kin to the snowball and probably spelled incorrectly) lilacs, buttercups. You must take some pictures in May to share. Peace

Monica
Thanks the colors in Middle Tn are now showing up at all corners. Peace

Marcel
Thanks they are really pretty this time of year. I always laugh at the name since they are purple and our Purple finches are Red not purple. Go figure. Peace
