LG Television (26 inch) was purchase in late February to replace the TV in the kitchen. Three months and nine days after the purchase, the screen went black. There is sound but no picture. The electronic store that it was purchased from has a 30 day return policy. So anything after 30 days you are flat out of luck.
Wait LG gives you a years warranty. I dial the 1-800 number and first thing you have to press 1 to continue in English. How I hate this statement. After several more buttons were pressed, I am put on hold for the next available agent. A man come on the line and I give him the spill as to what has happen to this little over 3 month old TV. He ask for the model and serial number. The numbers are on the back, so I have to get help to turn the set around to see the numbers. (A little fact , I have had to use 2 different kinds of drops in my eyes for the last month and have been unable to wear my contacts so I had on an old pair of glasses)
I write down the numbers needed and when I pick up the telephone he has hung up.
I dial the 1-800 number again and once again have to press several key es before I get a real live person. Oh no this woman cannot speak clear English and I am having a very hard time understanding each word. I almost hung up but I stuck with it as I wanted help. I have to go through the whole story AGAIN.

About this time,Puppy come inside for a break from mowing grass and he gets upset at the woman as he said she was giving me the IDIOT TEST. At this point, she tells me I have to return the TV to LG for them to fix the problem. NOT WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR. I asked if there was not a local LG authorized repairman in Nashville, TN. She did not answer the question but repeated I would have to return the TV. She was sending a return label and it would arrive in 5-7 days. I was to pack up the TV and call Fed x or UPS whichever was designated on the label.
Now here us a question. Do any of you keep the boxes of electronics or do you put them in the recycle bin?
Seeing my frustration, Puppy said he would go talk to the electronic store people. I told him they were the ones who said it was LG problem.
Puppy went to see the folks at the store and they gave him the name of an authorized LG repairman. It is located on the other side of Nashville which will be over a 100 mile round trip.
Seems like nothing is easy anymore, so I called up Linda and began to whine. She told me she had gotten Paul a 36 inch LG television and in 8 months the sound and picture were gone. Just like ours, good one minute and gone the next. She replaced it with a Sony television.
My 90 year old MIL cannot go down stairs to the family room to watch television so we all sit around the kitchen table and watch television as a family. THAT IS WHY IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO HAVE A WORKING TELEVISION IN THE KITCHEN.
When Puppy was born we had a Sony television and it's speaker began to give up so we put it down in the basement with the intention to get new speakers for it one day. Puppy went and got it out of the basement, dusted it off and hooked it up. The speaker are scratchy but it works fine.
Now this old Sony is over 23 years old and the LG is only 9 days older than 3 months. What does that tell a person?
Linda said she would never purchase anything LG again and I agreed with her.
The Kitty Justice is to buy a Sony and not an LG. LESSON LEARNED. Ranting complete so tomorrow I will finish Lynchburg series post.

Lady Di,

Do not accept the fact that you have to send the TV back to the company. That will cost a fortune by courier.

Phone them back, (now this is a tactic of mine) and tell them if it isn't fixed within 7 days, you are contacting a lawyer. You have to play hardball with these companies. I'm not sure about TN, but here in Ontario we have what are called Lemon Laws and your TV is definitely classified as a lemon. Don't give up. Make them fix that TV free of charge.

The store tried this with Jordan's DS Lite and I told them I would get a lawyer. Lo and behold, they told me to bring it in and they would replace it. Give it a try. Can't hurt. If you'd rather not do it, ask Puppy to do it.

Hope this helps. Good luck and please be sure to let me know if it works. :-)
Blessings,
Mary

Hi Kitty !! Hi y'all
Thanks for the advise. Puppy took it back to the shop we bought it from and a they have a strick 30 return policy no exceptions. Puppy found a place to take it here in town and took it to them on Tuesday. They said it should be ready in a week. Now if I had mailed it like the customer No Help wanted me to do it would take a week to get the return label, a week to get there, then they have to fix it so we were looking at about a month. I will never buy another LG product nor will I buy anything else from Electronic Express and I encourage all of y'all to do the same.
