This is the front and back of the Pet Milk cook book. Do any of you remember the programs listed on the bottom of the back cover? I loved the Red Skelton Show and was lucky enough to see him when he came and preformed at Orpyland. He did not use any profanity and he was so funny that when I left the building, my face literally hurt from laughter. The kitty justice is they just don't make them like him any more.

You know cook book lover that I am , that I am enjoying seeing these old cookbooks. Some of the stuff in those books was really weird though. I remember watching Red Skelton on t.v. when I was a child-he wouldn't make it now on the comedy channel-you are right he wouldn't talk dirty enough!

I am glad you are enjoying the series on cook books. I love to read them and check out old photos and art work. No profanity ever crossed Red Skelton's lips when he performed. If you think abut it none of the old comedians used profanity. Sometimes thinks were implied but never spoken. Now the comdians think it is not funny if not littered with 4 letter words. Peace
Amazing what we can learn from cookbooks.. I love to see the old ones also. I have a few old ones myself ---and your pictures bring back memories. Thanks!!
Hugs,
Betsy

Lots of the real entertainers did not use cuss words or worse. I see people do it on television on comedy shows and I think it is for shock value. I turn it off. I turn off a lot of shows that feature cruelty to animals but advertised as "animal" shows. I don't need it and don't buy the sponcer's products.

Yes they are fun and you can cook, cook, cook without getting out a pan. Peace

Maybe it is shock value but to me it just makes me sick because of the crudeness. I always think about my fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Lois Bennett because she would say "Those who cuss do not know how to express themselves." If you want to get me really ANGRY, be cruel to animals. I would not even go near Nike because they have rehired Michael Vick to be their spokesman. Peace

I like to browse through cook books both old and new ones. However, when it comes to practice, I use my own little recipes that eliminate the good ingredients such as butter, cream, etc..( sigh).

As for entertainers, dirty language is not funny at all. It's definitely possible to use humor and make very good jokes in clean language.

Dear Dianne ~~ I love recipe books and even still buy them. The old ones were good and had some nice recipes in them. Your floor tiles look nice. I am glad Mimi is doing well with her exercises - they do help.
I am sorry you are having such hot weather and breaking records even.
Thanks again for the great jokes my friend. I know what you mean when your brother had a bike. We were made to worry I think.
Take care dear friend, Love, Merle
