Knoxie had Hazel Crye King a birthday luncheon. Hazel is ninety two. Everyone there had taken Art Classes from her and for some it had been thirty years or longer. It is AMAZING how one small little woman could have changed the lives of so many. The Kitty Justice is that I am one of those lucky ones to have taken art from her.

These are a couple of paintings by my good friend Knoxie. I really do not know which one I like best as they both are very lovely. The Kitty Justice is I love the Hats.

Moe on the outside looking in. This is how most organized religions, make me feel. I grew up in the country where the preacher would scream Hell, Fire and Damnation. Even as a child, I knew deep in my soul that there had to be more to religion than this. My father was a outcast of his Church of Christ due to his life style and my Mother was raised a Methodist. I started out Baptist, tried Methodist, Church of Christ and then Catholic. I felt more at ease at the Catholic Church than I had  in any other and then I balked at joining when only Catholics could take communion and the NUNS tried to tell me what to do. Then I met Prince and as he was an Episcopalian and it was enough like the Catholic Church I joined. Now, with all the hoopla in the Church and women taking leader roles, once again I have the feeling of  being outside looking in. I go with Prince and enjoy the  service but then I want to get out quickly and not hob knob.
The kitty justice is you ask me my religion I just say I'm a Christian.

Remember the photo of Prince yesterday on the porch. This is how it looks today. Not much of a view until winter when the leaves are gone. The big Tulip Poplar tree got hit by lighting a few years ago and we will eventually cut it down.
When I stepped out on the porch this morning I was amazed to see so many blooms on the back side of the morning glory plant.
This is the front side of the plant. If I counted correctly, there were 34 blooms which is the most I have ever had at one time. Each flower will produce a seed for next year.
Close up of one of the blooms. The kitty justice if you wish to have some seeds just send me your snail mail address and when I harvest the seeds this fall, you will get a package. Remember these are the ones I paid so much for at the farm store and opened the package to find 5 seeds. The most expensive seeds I ever bought.

How to hold a cat in 1974. Prince was showing how long one of the many Sams was at the time.
How to hold a dog also in the seventies. Look how far you can see. The dog was named Max and yes it is a young Prince holding the large dog.
I found these photos and many others in three shoe boxes. Mimi and I have already put the names of the people on the back and the area the photo was taken on the middle size box. The kitty justice is we have two more boxes to finish. HOWEVER, MIMI SAID THERE ARE LOTS MORE THAN 3 BOXES. Whew, we got our work cut out for us. The kitty justice is she is the one who knows most of the people. Two kitty justices on a Monday. WOW!!!!!!
BTW : I still have not figured what I have done to make the comments hide. Just hover your mouse in between posted by and links and it will appear.

TSC(Tractor Supply Company) in Fairview had these tractors on sale. It is a solar light and one of the things to do in the evening is to watch it light up the porch besides watching for the giant spider to build his web across the sliding door.
If you do not think yellow is HAPPY, check out the Zinna at the top and the sun flower at the bottom. The Sun Flower had gotten so heavy I had to hold it's head up for the shot. I guess he had too many shots of water the night before.
The kitty justice is all the sun flowers this year were volunteers.

Moe is a very fast moving cat and I am beginning to think I just have named him Killer. If it moves then he is willing to chase and capture. He does not take prisoners.
This cat never moves but holds ups a pot of flowers each year. Then there is me. The Kitty Justice is that neither kitty shows my character.

This morning when the sun came up, I noticed another fog in the valley. I guess they will get snow this winter and we will not.
We had thirteen blooms this morning on the Morning Glory vines. It looks blue here but it is a purple. Mimi enjoys counting them but did not go out on the porch to see them. I could kick myself for putting them near the stairs this year because she cannot see them from her seat in the kitchen.
The kitty justice is to be sure to put them where she can see them from the kitchen next year.

I have located three boxes of old photos and these are of 1974. I sometimes miss the cows but then again I did not have to take care of them. An Angus bull was kept because the calves would not be too large for the cows to birth. The pond no longer looks as full because of the dry weather. The last photo you can still see the road going down to the farm house and the field below. The kitty justice is the field nor road are visible today nor do we have cattle today.

The photo shows a fog in July but the ones in August should be counted according to Folk lore because that is the number of snows you will have in the coming winter.
I found a small 1 X 1 1/2 card that has been in my wallet for a very. very long time say 1970's . It used the word letters and I will change it to e-mails. It goes as follows:
E-mails are
A friend's
Best way
To brighten up
Another's day,
And as I write
And think of you
It brightens up
My own day, too!
The Kitty Justice is I have lost count of the fogs in August and I really miss LETTERS.
BTW I do not text, facebook or twitter. How is that for showing my AGE.

This is my youngest Nephew on my side of the family. He has always stood a head taller than any of his classmates from the very beginning of his school years. When he was younger we always referred to him as "Little Bit" well we cannot do that any more. I know football coaches have wished for him to play linebacker but he enjoys music. He is a freshman in high school this year and makes his marching band debut this coming Friday night, August 19th.  He will be marching on the same field I marched on when I was in high school. Ah the memories of those Friday nights back in the Sixties. His high school plays their first  football game of the season at my old high school. The kitty justice is that he likes the fuzzy hat club as much as I did way back then. BTW where is his hat?

When I posted the Cornmeal Waffles on the July 17 th post, I did not have a waffle iron. Now I have one and last Sunday I made the waffles and to say they were good is an under statement.  I had hesitated to buy a waffle iron but on my last trip up to see my sister, we found this at the Outlet Mall. It was on sale for $15.00 and I thought why not get it and try those waffle recipes I have been reading. The kitty justice is that this is one of the best bargains I have found lately and it is will just keep on giving me good waffles.

A late sixties photo of Prince's family. From left to right, Mimi, Bep, Edward, Lewis and Prince in uniform. He was in Military School at Swanee. They had driven down from Nashville to Swanee to visit Prince one weekend.
The kitty justice is this is one of many things found in the desk that has gone to Alabama.

Thursday, August 11, 2011

This is Maie Spears Lindsley on September 1, 1915. She is Mimi's Mother. We got to talking about her when we took a desk out of the basement to go with Mary Kim to her new apartment at the University of Alabama. The desk was a wedding present from family in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was painted back in the sixties to match Bep's bedroom furniture. I printed a copy of the photo along with the above information so that Mary would know this was her great grandmothers furniture.
The kitty justice is to provide any historical information to future generations.

This was Monday morning. This is only one of the many photos I took. Beautiful sunrises always makes for a wonderful start of a day.
I will add more instructions today from H. Jackson Brown Jr.'s book "Life's Little Instruction Book".
84. Forget the Joneses.
85. Never encourage anyone to become a lawyer.
86. Don't smoke.
87. Even if you're financially well-to-do, have your children earn and pay part of their college tuition.
88. Even if you're financially well-to-do, have your children earn and pay for all their automobile insurance.
89. Recycle old newspapers, bottles, and cans.
90. Refill ice cube trays.
91. Don't let anyone ever see you tipsy.
92. Never invest more in the stock market than you can afford to lose.
93. Choose your life's mate carefully. From this one decision will come ninety percent of all your happiness or misery.
94. Make it a habit to do nice things for people who'll never find out.
The copy right on the book is 1991 therefore, the kitty justice would be if young people even know what an ice cube tray is today.

Got this in an email and it is too funny not to share. The Kitty Justice is to laugh hard and long.

The farm house in Kentucky with Doc, Peaches, Hunter, Cat, Knoxie and Marks Man standing out front. The bags have squash and tomatoes that Doc had grown in his garden.
After I finally was escorted to the farm, we had an enjoyable get together. We were entertained with before and after photos of the house. Knoxie had a wonderful meal which was held up by my drive around Kentucky, which was barbecue ribs, squash casserole, green beans, sliced tomatoes and rolls, top off with coconut cake. Hunter wanted to leave and I needed to follow him back to the main road so I did not get to explore the farm as I would have loved to have done. At the back of the property is a creek. Maybe Prince will not be on call when we are invited back. The kitty justice is it is hard to find a farm house in the middle of a corn field.

Sunday, August 07, 2011

This is a view from Knoxie's front yard at their farm in Kentucky. Actually the corn goes behind the house and in front of the house as the gravel drive circles around the field.
This is Charlie their walk on dog. He was skin and bone and terrible hungry and abused when he arrived at their farm. Now he never leaves the yard of his wonderful new home. However, he still is leary of human touch and will not let anyone pet him. I just love when a " walk on" adopts a good family.
Knoxie's husband Doc had sent a hand drawn map how to get to the farm. The directions at the top of the map go as follows--Go toward Clarksville --First Exit in Ky--Turn right toward Pembroke--sign at drive. I took the instructions literally. Just like a child. Therefore, I saw lots of Kentucky that was not on the map. I took the drawing to show the road and it curves and how far each one happen to be. NOT!!!! Mz Merlot was humming along at a nice clip and I had added the miles together and did not even start looking until 5 miles down the road. I was suppose to go 1.5 miles and turn. ETC. ETC. I stopped and a nice young man got in his truck and let me follow him to their house. When Kitty goes by directions I need actual road numbers and if I need to turn more than once tell me. I am not good with mileage only. The kitty justice when the Doc said you were suppose to go 1.5 miles and turn, the map took on new meaning. Should I say I felt like a real IDIOT.

Thursday, August 04, 2011

This was sent to me in an e mail. Enlarge to read the sign.
The kitty justice is that maybe gun owners should follow this guy in Texas example.

The kitty justice is to show a couple of January photos to try and cool us off.

Tuesday, August 02, 2011

When it started raining Saturday night we had already moved the party inside. It had not rained in over a week, therefore, I went out front and took a photo of the wet plants under the big hickory tree to the right of the front door. The kitty justice we appreciate any rain at any time. Still have the big green umbrella up hoping it will cause us to get more rain.

Monday, August 01, 2011

Nephew #2 from Mobile, Alabama, my SIL from Jackson, Mississippi, Nephew #1 and his oldest child from Los Angeles.
We had an early birthday party on the hill because on her real birthday she will be back home in  California.
Prince pulled out the large fan and we dined on the porch. Great Uncle Edward cooked the burgers and dogs and we had fixed potato salad as a side dish. It was a wonderful time together. We were happy the rain came and took the party inside. The kitty justice is each time lately I have put up the green umbrella it rains. Maybe I should put it up more often.
