At Cheekwood from May 26-September 3, 2012, there is a garden display of 7 TREE HOUSES. Each one was inspired by a book. This one represents "The Giver, 1993 by Lois Lowry. This is the back coming up the hill from the gardens. The top window on the right is where I stood to take the third photo of this series.
This photo shows the house from the left front. The first entrance on the right is an incline that circles you around to the little balcony on the left. There is a slide you can go down and exit at the second opening. Needless to say the kid in me did not come out so I went back down the incline.
Again this is the view from the little balcony window.
These are the views from the incline looking out at the world.
"Things could change...Things could be different. I don't know how, but there must be some way for things to be different. There could be colors"(Taken from the book which was in the brochure)
The kitty justice if you enlarge the last 2 photos you can see the world in colors.

I would love to see this. I have been after my husband for years to build me a tree house!

My gifted students used to read "The Giver."

I would have thought I was in 7th Heaven when I was small to have had something so elaborate. Keep requesting one. Peace

Do you think this is a good interpretation of the book? Peace

It was really fun to see the colors and I could have stood for several minutes but alas kids were excited about the slide. Peace

Thanks. I bet you are doing great just like the doctors says. It always feels slow when you are the one recovering. Peace
