Last week started out GRAND. The weather was just right and I was getting lots of things done. I even made this Ole Time Apple Pie with the apples Prince picked off our trees. BTW Prince does not often eat dessert but he had TWO pieces of this pie on Tuesday. That my friends is a ringing endorsement of any dessert on the hill. Anyhoo, the next day Puppy helped me with the plants that I needed to move inside the basement for winter. I come inside after a good morning of getting things done have lunch and then head for the shower. I had scheduled a massage that afternoon so I needed to get ready. The water was off. Yes Harpeth Valley Utility District had done it again. I get water in the sink out of the hot water and try to sponge off. I had the urge to go cancel the massage but then I hear the pipes dance and I now know the water is back on. I jump in the shower wash my hair first and just and I get the soap out, you guess it the water starts to get less and less. Then it HIT ME. My back hurt so bad, I could hardly move. I thought good thing I am getting a massage as the stress and work has gotten my back out of whack. I can barely move but I make it to the massage, afterwards I could hardly walk. My back felt like I was breaking into . I made it back home and I hit the bed and am just now able to sit up. I guess I will call the doctor tomorrow as I have tried everything I know to do and I must admit I am better but boy does it still hurt.

LST 325

The above two photos were taken from the pedestrian bridge and the one below was taken from my perch on River Front Park's wall before we joined the line to tour the ship.
A Landing Ship Tank came to Nashville by way of the Cumberland River. It was set up for tours all last week and today has gone to Clarksville.
A LST-325 was nicknamed the Gray Lady. However, one of the tour guides(mostly war veterans) said the LST stood for Long Slow Target. Top speed is about 12 miles an hour.
This vessel of WWII is 99 percent original and operates on its own power.
The brochure stated that there were 1,051 ships like this one built for WWII. Seventy percent were built on the Ohio and Illinois Rivers. It was designed to carry tanks, troops and cargo onto a hostile beach and then retract off therefore it has a flat bottom which makes sea going rather rocky.
With that thought, the Kitty Justice is to carry a barf bag at all times.

Yesterday the fog was not just in the valley as shown above but was like a soft feathery cocoon wrapped ever so snug around the hill. It was as if we were the center of the universe with our velvety cover. Sometimes the whisper of rain could be seen while other times it came as hard as falling change from an open coin purse. Maggie had to be coached to take her turns in the yard while Mimi complained it was the worse old day ever.
The Kitty Justice is I smiled and enjoyed our earthly curtain.

Sun rise

The photo was taken August 30th of the Sun rise from our back porch.
The kitty justice is that you enjoy it as much as I did.

Moon Flowers

I planted the seeds in the pot that was easily visible from Mimi's perch in the kitchen. The photos were taken in the middle of August. That night we had a full dozen Moon flowers. We have never had that many before. The max being a half dozen. Each night Mimi checks to see how many flowers we will have that night.

New Paint Job

The new paint job on the This N That Thrift Store. Before I was President, the shop was a mustard yellow for years and all seemed happy but I noticed the paint was peeling, so I got an organization which spruced up buildings in the neighborhood for free,to paint the building if we would buy the paint. I thought that was a good deal so I bought the blue paint and they painted the shop which made it look fresher and more inviting.
Today someone else has gone one better as it has a more professional look. When I took some items by to donate I was greeted with this cheery appearance., Don't you just love the fake windows?
The Kitty Justice is to take off your hat to the new President for getting this done but I bet the blue paint job I had done was much cheaper on the budget.

Fall arrangement

I took out the peach candles and put green ones out for the fall. I also added a fall wreath with real turkey feathers but a faux hummingbird. Can you find the hummer.
The Kitty Justice is to get ready for Fall.

What is this? It is the brain or as the parts departments say Control Panel to my Whirlpool washer.
My old dial machine with a smaller tub lasted throughout Puppy's younger years and washed many a dirty football uniforms, play clothes and Prince's farm work clothes. While Puppy was in college, I thought a new machine was in order as the old machine was at least 20 years old. Therefore, I got an energy saving machine with a large tub and it conserved water as it would determine how much water was needed due to the size of the load.
A few months ago it would not start until after 4 restarts, each time a error code of "F1" was produced. Then after a few more weeks, it would stop and produce the same error code during the rinse cycle. On it's panel, there was a Rinse and Drain cycle so I would have to put it on that cycle and restart at least two or three times before it would finish the load of clothes.
Now I will profess, I love Google as it is a great help to many problems.
I got on the website and found out this error was a Control Panel issue. I watched a U tube video on how to repair the machine and asked Prince if we could fix it. He said we could so I began a search for the part. YIKES!!!!!!! Finally I ordered the part, well it sat in the box for another month before Prince was ready to tackle the problem. I am a patience Kitty but it was a real pain to do laundry as you could NOT leave the d--- machine as you did not know when you would have to restart it so it would finish the load.
Now I am not one to lay blame but I do have a theory as to why the control panel when haywire. Remember the part about the machine determining the water level before I present my theory. Our local water department, Harpeth Valley Water District has almost daily or at least three times a week shut the water off. Why would I blame them? Well, when the water has been off if you run water out of any pipe, the blow out of air will scare the life out of ya(NOT KIDDING AS YOU CAN PEE IN YOUR PANTS), since you are expecting a nice stream of water to appear.
If they the water company continue their shut offs and I have to replace the control panel again, I plan to send them the bill.
The Kitty Justice is that is my theory and I am sticking to it.

Notice how far the sun is to the southeast on this September morning. The header photo was taken   in a different season because of the sun's position.
Last evening at dinner time, it rained up and down, around and sideways within an hours time. God's fireworks and drum rolls accompanied the pitter pat of the rain. We were happy that we only lost one oak tree and it is on the old road of the property near the street. However, if it had been any taller, the top would have obstructed the driveway. Our neighbors had a hickory tree broken in half and a HUGE oak limb fall into their front yard.
Even the weather folks did not predict this as they had just stated before the Heaven's open with the hand of an Angry God that Davidson county was gonna miss the brunt of the storm.
This morning when I looked out a blanket of fog was covering Bellevue. I waited for the sun to appear out of it's sleep and case a golden glow over the earth before I snapped a few photos.
The Kitty Justice is I would have hated to be in the Middle of the Storm last night.

Last Tree House

Please enlarge the photos to enjoy the details.
This tree house was inspired by Henry David Thoreau's book Walden-1854. This is the final tree house in the tree house series and I saved the best for last. I went up and around and inside and out, wishing to be a small child again and having access to this wonderful house. Under neath the house was a swing and a table and two stools made from a log.
Of all the tree houses, this was my very favorite. The best thing is that someone who attended the Swan Ball paid $40,000.00 for this tree house and donated it to Cheekwood. So future visitors will get to enjoy this great place where imaginations can run as fast and as far as they wish.
I hope yawl have enjoyed the tree house series beginning with June 5th post and ending today with other post resting in between.
The kitty justice would be for someone to read the book to the visitors.
