My ole New friend

This is the brace that I had to wear after my back fusion in 97. At Prince's suggestion, I brought her back out and I wear her when I am up but only if I am in PAIN. Why you say? It keeps me from bending my back and hurting myself more.
It I can tolerate the pain or take enough of my second new friend, then I do not wear it because I do not wish to become depend.
The Kitty Justice is I am happy I did not toss the damn thing.

Abe use to wear one but his wasn't quite that long. He had back problems for years, but had no surgery. Surgeon told him for the kind of back problem he had, he might come out in worse shape, so he decided against that. Also told Abe if it were possible to walk to work rather then ride in a car, he would suggest that, but we lived about 25 miles from where he worked and that would have been quite a walk. It still flares up now and then, he can be doing something like bending over to pick up a small piece of paper and it could go out and then for about a week, he would walk around almost looking like the letter Z. He kept that brace for years, but finally even with my patching he could no longer wear it.
Wear it! Wear it!! My Son-in-Law who was in a terrible car accident several years ago wears one everyday. It helps somehow. MB
Answer to your comment---we are pretty much surrounded by water up this way. Stanwood has no beaches because it has mostly tideflats except the river. Camano Island is of course surrounded by salt water and has two nice parks. the pic I posted is about 45 minutes away. Our beaches here are mostly rocky--no lovely sand except on the ocean coast and that's not too too far away. . MB

It keeps me straight and that keeps the pain down. I am glad acted like most of the family in this house and did not throw it away. You would not believe what I run across in this house. LOL Walking does help but I need a long handle shoe horn to get my tenny pumps on so I will be comfortable as I walk. I read the yesterday that 20 or 45 mins walking helps the lower back and that is what the ortho doctor advised years ago. Peace

I do not wish to become dependent on it but I sure to wear it when the pain threshold is high and it does help. I would love your area as I am not much of a sand lover. I love walking on the beach with coffee in hand on a morning stroll but I do not like it when it is hot and you get it in places it should not be. I am more of a tree hugger and the absent of sand would not bother me. Peace
For me the biggest blessing would be it is adjustable:) hope it helps.

Can you believe that I did not have to take it out any? Still the same big girl I was when I had the surgery over 16 years ago. It does help when I am in lots of pain as it stabilizes the back. Peace

I could have done with that today. I bent a certain way...and could feel something starting to go astray in my lower lumbar area...so I slowly regained my stance...and then took things easily for the rest of the day. I nipped it in the bud, just in time!
