Ginkgo with a History

Cousin Susan West lovingly dug up little Ginkgo trees for Prince. With great care Prince planted the two trees, one in the front of the house and the other near the horse block. These trees were babies from the Giant Ginkgo at Glen Leven, where Susan lived. When she passed she gave Glen Leven to Land Trust with several stipulations. This tree is about ten feet tall now, but the other near the horse block, well when Nephew lived in the cabin, one of his young friends, a girl,(I hate to admit this but young girls are the worst driver) ran over it with her car. It did not survive. Prince was very ANGRY and I would say that was the most upset I have ever  seen him. He is the most easy going person I know but they too have a angry button. Remember these were not just any ole trees, they are living tributes from a very special cousin.
The Kitty Justice is always respect a tree because you never know what meaning it has for others.
BTW You can read the 2-18-2007 blog post about Glen Leven or just Google it for more information.

I love a Ginkgo tree. Liquid gold when the golden leaves fall to the ground.
Too bad the girl ran over the tree. I would be mad too. For many reasons. I am going to look up your 2007 post. MB
Hi There, Now I know what the Ginkgo's look like.. SO PRETTY. Someone else was talking about their Ginkgo being so pretty --and I had never seen one --or put a name with something I may have seen. THANKS!!!!

Beautiful.
Hugs,
Betsy

I'm so sorry to hear that the tree was run over by a car and killed.
(Made me wish that a post or piling had been around the tree...better to dent the car than damage the tree.)
The leaves on the tree are beautiful in the fall. Just gorgeous.
I'm sorry for my absence from your blog for a while. I've been away. I've missed being here.
Hugs to you, my friend.

I hope you enjoy the 2007 post. I have yet to learn how to link it in the post. CC (Computer Challenged). One time I was over at Glen Leven and that huge tree was still golden up top but had lost lots of leaves too so I fell like I was standing in a golden fairy world. Peace

So glad to increase your knowledge on trees. You often help me out with your blog so I am delighted to return the favor. Peace

Prince had a stick beside it but nothing to really protect it from a car. Lesson learned. I have a metal fence post holding up my snowball bush now so if the UPS drivers back over it again, well they will get a rude awakening. Looking forward to you being more visible. Peace
