House plant

When you come in our front door and look to the left you are greeted by this wonderful plant. When Mimi's friend Harriett was alive, she gave the plant to Mimi and Mimi kept it in her bathroom window. Oh green paw Kitty took the pitiful looking plant and gave it new dirt and found it's happy place in the house. I have to watch Maggie because if she gets too close that tail of hers can do some damage. I have placed it on the tallest plant stand I have but alas it is crawling along the floor again. I have cut it back only once and started some cuttings for Nephew who lives in Mobile. Some days I feel as if Nephew is part my child as his interests are the same as mine.  I may go in search of a taller plant stand as I cannot cut it off without rooting it and I do not know of anyone who I can give it. I take after Pa and Mother as they too could not just throw away a good cutting of a plant. Do any of yawl have this problem?
The Kitty Justice is I do not know the name of the plant so we refer to it as Harriett's Plant.

Necklaces

I love to make necklaces. The Pope, my bestest girl friend laughs and ask "why do you make necklaces as you do not wear them?" I wear them occasionally but not like others kitties. I prefer to decorate my hands, wrist and ears. But I cannot help myself, I just love to make necklaces.
The Kitty Justice is I have no regrets when I give them away.
BTW The green one left with my SIL to dazzle Mississippi.

Purple Heart

When I arrived on the Hill, my MIL had only two pots of the plant (the one in the middle and right) and she referred to it as Purple Jew. The first time I had ever seen this plant was when in the 80's I traveled with a friend to Austin TX to see her old friend from college. It was used as ground cover in Austin.
In the spring when I would bring the plants outside, I would cut the plant back and put the cuttings in glass jars of water to root. I now have a whole patch out front in between the petunia and lilies and Saliva and yes it comes back every year.
Those who know me can understand why I had to have another pot of the same plant. Heck it just looks better to have three instead of two.
After many years referring to the plant by the wrong name, I came across a plant book with a photo, name and origin.
The Kitty Justice is I now know it is called "Purple Heart".

Big Dog Little Dog

Maggie is pretty good at finding the perfect spot when the kitchen is crowded with two legged animals. If she was any taller she would not fit under the counter. BTW The stack of newspapers are being collected to place around the plants Puppy has put out in his garden and the tomatoes down by the bottom porch. He will then add a layer of straw NOT HAY and the maintenance of his garden will be rather easy. ( Plus it keeps in the moisture so less watering is required) I tried to get him to add the straw last year but he decided not to and had to do a lot of hoeing to keep out the weeds.  Lesson Learned.
Cricket, my SIL dog does not have the same problem except she does have to watch for those two legged animal's feet because she is easily stepped upon.
The Kitty Justice is no matter the size of the dog , they have to know how to avoid the two legged Beasts.
HAPPY SUMMER YAWL.

Puppy's Garden

Earlier we have had lots of rain and cool weather so this past week was the first time that Puppy got busy on his garden. He planted some okra, squash and LOTS of peppers. I guess we could call it the Pepper Garden.
Also, he put out 6 tomato plants near the bottom porch for his Mimi and Mom.

The Kitty Justice is Mother always said " you have to wait for the ground to warm up". It has and with the ninety degree weather predicted for today and the weekend, well it is gonna be really warm.
BTW the Raspberries are the bushes below the fence of his garden.

Ferns

These are last years ferns. Hard to believe because they look like I just got them because they are so full. Well, I read an article that when you bring ferns out of storage, to give them a whole tea pot of strong tea. I brewed up one pot for each and after it cooled I gave each a nice strong drink.
The Kitty Justice is that ferns like a little caffeine to wake up just like we humans.

Harpeth River here they come

Puppy and friend getting ready to go down the Harpeth River. Another one also went but had not arrived at the time of this photo.
The Kitty Justice is we had to save them from getting their truck locked in the area where they put  in the river. The engineers lock the gates at 7 PM.

Kitty Justice as a Young Kat

My Mother gave up trying to let my hair grow when I was a young child. I was around six (my first grade photo) at the time of this picture was made. Instead of curling my hair and being prissy like my older sister, I wanted to run bare footed out side and climb any tree that looked inviting. I also loved the mud animals my Grandpa would make for me to play in the dirt and pretend I was a little farmer. Looking back on my childhood, this was the happiest time of my life when I was young. Freedom to be outside and do whatever, I wished to do. No chores just fun times. I loved to follow my Grandpa around like a love sick puppy. Up until I met Prince, I never loved a man as much as Pa. Pa was the man in my life as I was growing up as my Father was never around. But Pa was there to tell stories and he ALWAYS HAD  time for his Babes, his name for us grand kids' He grew a large garden and we had a milk cow, goat or goats, chickens, rabbits and I considered all their babies to be my very own play things. Our Neighbor had a horse, Ole Dan, and I could climb the gate and climb onto his back when I was allowed to ride him. I would go at break neck speed down the hill and when the fence came into to view, I would turn him back uphill. Oh what a rush. I also played with frogs to my OCD Grandmothers horror. She convinced me that if they peed on me I would get these nasty warts, so not to be outdone, I sneaked some of her quilt pieces and straight pins to make diapers for my little frog babies.  We would have been considered  POOR but in real like we were Richer than those who were considered in better standing.
As you can see in my twenties, I was still very much a tom boy. I would spend the autumn mornings in a tree stand or hidden in some brush to kill a deer. Now I do not kill for SPORT. I was taught if you kill it you best be ready to put it on the table as food. That is exactly what I did. I would raise a small garden and then deer hunt for meat. I would even chill the meat in my frig and then de-bone it myself and package it. Yes you have to skin it and then have a good hack saw to cut it up so it will fit in the frig. I had a buddy who loved  her wine and when she would open the frig to procure the wine, and I was cooling the meat, she would lose her cookies. I always told her she would need me around if push come to shove because she would not have the fortitude to survive.
Since Sunday, I have had a lot of time to reflect when  I just leaned over to get some cold cuts out of the meat drawer (A very natural  act) and my back went out. I have been living last week as Rip Van Wrinkle in drag.(Feel like all I have done is SLEEP)
The Kitty Justice is to have the back bone OF the earlier Kitty days. Who would have thought I would end up with back problems because I could do anything I put my mind  to accomplish.

Evening Sunset

This sunset was taken last month. I know I post more sun rises than sun sets. The clouds were very unusual that evening.
My paws have just been doing the jobs that need to be done. Such as putting 2 gallons of cherries in the freezer. If you have ever done this job you know it is not a one sentence task. Cleaned closets and put away winter duds and brought out the summer attire. Again, not a one sentence job. Washed up winter bed clothes and stored them until next winter. Yep, correct not a one sentence job.
Planted some flowers that I got a DEAL on. Twenty dollar pots for a buck. If they do not make it well I do not have much invested.
Gonna take a week off from the computer to have FUN and WORK. I know work is bad thing because it is a four letter word.
See yawl the seventeenth so have a great week.
The Kitty Justice is that I hope to have more FUN than WORK.

Brenda's Roses

Our wonderful neighbor brought over this large vase of roses for our enjoyment. She had grown them out back of her home. The hallway smelled Heavenly for days.
My rose bushes(knockout variety) looked horrible so without a look back, I yanked them from their place in my yard. I put Callie Lillie where the roses had been.
The Kitty Justice is I will just accept the fact that I cannot grow Roses of any kind.

The Battle House

This is the plaque that greets you when you first enter the hotel from your car. Then you walk through the lobby.
When men and women were not allowed to dine together in the old days, they would be seated on the whispering balcony. The men on one side and the ladies on the other and they would whisper back and froth to one another. Puppy and I went up and tried it however, the air conditioning was too loud to hear the whispered word.
There were three balconies you could explore.

While standing on the whispering balcony, I took a photo of the glass ceiling and the floor below. Do you see the two dogs?  On the far side below is the restaurant where we had breakfast each morning.
The Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel and Spa is a very fancy hotel . I appreciated the historic splendor and style just as much as I am sure American Presidents, Ulysses S. Grant and Woodrow Wilson  did when they stayed here.
The Kitty Justice was too hear the walls TALK. Oh, what they could tell us.

More Rehearsal Dinner

Here is Prince's little brother and part of his family. The gorgeous young lady in black is their daughter who is twenty one even though she does not look it but then again her Mother in the blue stripes dress does not look her age either.
A picture of the cousins, Puppy, Mary and Lewis.
The Kitty Justice is it is nice to be related to such a GOOD LOOKING group.

Mother and Sons

Groom Lewis with his Mother . This was at the Rehearsal dinner and I do believe this happy photo of Mother and Son is one of my favorites.
My SIL was not only the Mother of the Groom but the Mother of the best man. I may get in trouble for posting this photo as Number one Nephew is very private. He is dark and handsome but not tall and very, very musically talented.  Lets not tell him . Okay.
He has two beautiful young girls, one is 4 and the youngest is 2. They were flower girls in the wedding. At Rehearsal, Age 2 child refused to go down the aisle but before she refused she said "No Thank You."
The Kitty Justice is # 2 Great Niece is not only cute but very polite.

The Happy Couple

One of the photos sent while they were on their Honeymoon. I noticed that Nephew who is very NEAT had hair on his handsome face. Must have lost his razor. Not like him to look so scruffy.
The reception was at the held at the Richards DAR House in Mobile. On the mantle was a photo of Mimi when she was married. All throughout the house were old photos of different relatives on their wedding day. I do not know who made the cake but it was FANTASTIC. Not that yucky too sweet kind. I liked it so well I went back for seconds and thought damn with glucose levels.
Prince and I sat on the the lawn on the other side of the house because as you can see the band was playing and everyone was partying down on this side of the house. Nephew Lewis and new Niece Adrienne stopped to have a photo made on the dance floor.
The Kitty Justice is that they are as HAPPY as Prince and I.

Bellingrath Gardens

Walking paths at the Garden. This is a sixty five acre estate which was first a fishing camp bought by Walter Bellingrath at the advise of his doctor who told him to "LEARN HOW TO PLAY.'
Today countless number of tourist get to enjoy his prescription. Walter's wife Bessie had a love of flowers and antiques. After the rustic cabins with no running water or electricity were renovated, Bessie decided to improve the place by bringing down a few azaleas. Unfortunate for us these had already bloomed.
In 1927 the Bellingraths went on a European tour and when they returned they decided to turn the camp into a country estate. Thus the gardens for today's enjoyment begun.
This is the rose garden which was named 2004 Top Public Rose Garden in the United States.

I thought I would include a photo of the red bridge which was located in the Japanese area of the grounds.
The Kitty Justice is we will have to go back for a proper tour since we only spent 30-45 minutes here.

Rehearsal dinner

Kitty with her two guys, Prince and Puppy, at the Rehearsal dinner which was located at the OK BICYCLE SHOP in downtown Mobile. Again we were all very fortunate with the weather since it was held outdoors in the back courtyard of the restaurant.
The Kitty Justice is my paws were tired from climbing on around on ships all day.
