who do you miss

This was the last photo taken of my Pa with his great granddaughter and his wife, Bassie(Yes that was her name, I did not misspell it) in 1973.
When it gets near the holidays, I miss him more than others. He was my first love and I followed him around when I was little like an adoring puppy. He had a twinkle in his eye and plenty of stories to entertain. He would play with his Grand babies like he was one of us and not a stern grown up. Oh what a blessing it was growing up with this loving, fun man as my Pa.
The Kitty Justice is who do you miss the most during the holidays?
BTW the photos on the mantle are left to right, my big sis, my little brother and the big one was me.(High School Graduation photo 1968)

Hold on

This Red Bellied Woodpecker is using his tail to hold on to the bird feeder.
Would it not be nice if America could hold on to it's principles and not change rules that have worked since 1700's because Big Ears is not getting his way. Oh yes he voted against Nuclear Option when he was a Senator but then a Republican President was in office. It was bad thing then according to Big Ears but now he thinks- he thinks he knows what the founding fathers were thinking. That is the height of lunacy. He reminds me of a spoiled child that does not get his way so he changes the rules of the game so he can get his way. What next will he throw himself on the floor in a tantrum.  Our credibility in the world countries is non existence since he took office. Clinton got to stay in office but lots of our Top Generals have been removed from office during this reign of Stupidity.
I just hope America can hold on and survive him.

Hold on to prayer that this Cruel Joke of a President goes away like a bad, bad, bad NIGHTMARE.
The Kitty Justice is the last time I looked his title was President not Dictator.

Turning Red

The top photo was taken November 7th and the bottom photo was taken November 21st. See how much redder the Holly berries have turned.
The Kitty Justice is the Cedar Wax Wings and the Robins do not find them before I get a few to decorate for Christmas.

Greenery for the porch

You can see the wooden pot in the corner plus the one further down the porch. Below is a close up of that one.

As you can see I had enough branches to make three nice pots of greenery to give color to the porch.
The Kitty Justice is this is the time of year that any color is needed.

A difference of 2 weeks

On November 7th, the Geranium was still blooming in the wooden flower pot in the corner. Prince had cut some lower Magnolia branches, so today I added them to my barren pot.
You can see the toughed Titmouse who did was not afraid to come back to the feeder due to my appearance on the porch.
We have had 2 nice sunny days with a promise of rain tomorrow followed by bone chilling COLD.
The Kitty Justice is we older living beings have a hard time adjusting to a 20 or more degree change.

Poo Camera not handy

Photo taken 11-5-13 but this mornings sky would have made this one look very pale. I had gotten up late as my four legged alarm clock was sleeping in. My friend, Pammie Pooh was driving into work and she called to make sure I was enjoying the sunrise. Prince answer the phone and got to hear her uplifting voice. If you ever need a shot of happiness just talk to Pammie. She is one of those people who makes you Happy, Happy, Happy as Phil on Duck Dynasty would say.
The kitty justice is I need to take my camera with me to the kitchen each morning.

MIL Tongue

This in one of the three pots I had of Mother In Laws Tongue. One I gave to Nephew in Mobile and the other I gave to Puppy for the cabin. This one sets in the hall as you come in from the garage. One of it's great characteristics is it removes formaldehyde from the air. This plant along with Peace Lily and Spider Plants are the best to keep the air in the home clean.
BTW the framed card is from one of Peach's paintings. The real painting is truly impressive.
The Kitty Justice is I will have to get a bigger pot or divide my MIL plant come spring.

It blooms

When Prince was working at the hospital in Murfreesboro, he discovered a great place to buy plants and flowers. It is called Martins. We were talking just the other night about we needed to schedule a trip to Martins. I love their poinsettia and have never ever had a bad experience with anything gotten from them. This was a tiny cactus I bought and re potted. Look what a beauty I have now. I put it by the windows between the living room and dining room to enjoy.
The Kitty Justice is I can hardly wait to see what Martins has this year.

A neighborly surprise

These are Heirloom Marigolds that our neighbor grows. She cut all her flowers this week before the blast of COLD air hit. They have a wonderful fragrance so I put them in our living room and each time I go down the hall, I can not only enjoy their beauty but one of my favorite smells. I also love the smell of wet tomato vines and Geraniums.
I was headed out the door to take Maggie for a stroll when I looked down to see this wonderful surprise.
The Kitty Justice is to have great neighbors who are giving and kind.

tbt

This is the largest buck I ever harvested and I was very proud because little ole me, went into the woods by myself one November morning and I was such a crack shot(I would usually bring one down with one shot) I did not check my rifle before I headed out. It took 3 shots to bring him down but the third one he went down like a rock. (Other hunters have to track down the deer because they run off not to brag but I never did) There was no way this 110 lb girl  could drag the deer out of the woods, so I located another hunter and he did the honors for me. I put him in the trunk of my 1973 Nova and proudly drove around Smith County.
The Kitty Justice is I miss those early mornings high up in a tree watching the world come alive.

11-12-13

It is not fog but snow showers you see from my cozy inside photos of the outside world.
From midnight until now we have dropped twenty or so degrees and the wind is howling with it's leaves victims blowing in the strong winds.
The Kitty Justice is I will not go outside and play but stay inside and while away the day. Perhaps by a fire. Kats sleep good by a warm fire.

Hickory Tree

The Hickory trees seem to be very shy this year. They are all hugging their coat of leaves very close to the branches. While others are becoming know as bare naked ladies, the hickories have decided they will keep their frocks as long as possible.
This photo was taken 11-7-2013 and if you enlarge it you can see the top of the Ginkgo tree in the bottom right and a large Holly on the back side of the house.
My very first post was about Squirrel Crumbs which was inspired by walking under the  hickories near the house and down the driveway. Sometimes I would go out the front door and the crumbs would be like solid rain as a dozen or more long tail rats feasted on the bounty.
The Kitty Justice is Mother Nature will order them to loose their frocks and soon.

Uncle Jack

This is the same photo that was used for the newspaper article on the left in the photo below. However, either time or a mouse had eaten off a corner so I covered it with the plane photo which was in the same album.
Please enlarge the newspaper photo to read about Uncle Jack. (That is how I always have known him and have to stop and think a moment when someone refers to him as "Mr."
He was a handsome guy and I remember the first time I met him, I thought him rather gruff. He never bragged around me and I am sure that is how he acted elsewhere. Aunt Karen (Puppy's Godmother) and I were talking about WWII and she said he never talked much about his service however, he flew transport planes that did not have any guns. I would call that very brave.

The Kitty Justice is that he was a fine lemon pie with a hard crust.
THANKS TO UNCLE JACK AND ALL THE OTHERS WHO ARE GONE AND THE ONES  STILL WITH US FOR THEIR SERVICE.

Irish Blessing

May God grant you always...
A sunbeam to warm you,
A moonbeam to charm you,
A sheltering Angel so nothing can harm you.
Laughter to cheer you.
Faithful friends near you.
And whenever you Pray,
Heaven to hear you.

The Kitty Justice is to be Thankful for this beautiful Sunday morning.

Japanese Maple in the fall

The little Japanese Maple has begun to change her wardrobe. Her green leaves are now turning a brilliant red. She is one of those ladies who loves to change her outfits which makes her a wonderful tree to behold. She resides near the horse block, since we do not have anyone mounting horses from the block.  I am visually entertained by her changing outfits from our hallway windows as I stroll back and forth daily.
The Kitty Justice is there are many ways to tell  your tree's gender. Hers is her love to change her wardrobe.

Ginkgo with a History

Cousin Susan West lovingly dug up little Ginkgo trees for Prince. With great care Prince planted the two trees, one in the front of the house and the other near the horse block. These trees were babies from the Giant Ginkgo at Glen Leven, where Susan lived. When she passed she gave Glen Leven to Land Trust with several stipulations. This tree is about ten feet tall now, but the other near the horse block, well when Nephew lived in the cabin, one of his young friends, a girl,(I hate to admit this but young girls are the worst driver) ran over it with her car. It did not survive. Prince was very ANGRY and I would say that was the most upset I have ever  seen him. He is the most easy going person I know but they too have a angry button. Remember these were not just any ole trees, they are living tributes from a very special cousin.
The Kitty Justice is always respect a tree because you never know what meaning it has for others.
BTW You can read the 2-18-2007 blog post about Glen Leven or just Google it for more information.

Less than five days

I ran out in the early morning on  October 30th to capture our neighbors big Maple tree, because the 31st was gonna to be windy and rain and I feared the leaves may be blown off the trees. Boy was I wrong. Check out the photo below which was taken November 2nd.

Another 10-30-13 photo compared with the one taken 11-2-13.

The last two were also taken on the 2nd. I was mulling over today the facts that the first trees to go naked were the Walnut trees and now the Dogwood tree pictured in the last photo also stands nude today in the cold morning air.
Prince will have his job cut out for him this weekend as most of the leaves are on the ground. The tall Oaks are sporting see through apparel which is not the norm since they are the last ones to loose their leaves. I really think the wind has pulled off their leaves like my Grandma use to pull off the feathers of the chickens she would prepare for the evening meals. What surprises me most are the Hickory Trees. They are hugging their coats so close that Mr. Windy has been unable to defrock them.
The Kitty Justice is the same as the morning sky, look quick or you will miss the color.

Tuesday morning

Prince and I call a red sky in the morning "A Redlin morning" referring to Terry Redlin's paintings. Monday's sky was redder than this but the camera was in the back and by the time, I had time to capture the sky, well it had changed.
This photo and the following one were taken just a few minute apart and you can tell how quickly the colors change.
The Kitty Justice is to take the camera to the kitchen when you first get up.
