Time does not wait

Kitty Justice, Santa and LPC.  Our Christmas always begins with my best friends visit from GA.
LPC has always been a big part of Puppy's Christmas. When he was younger he thought Santa was a 4 foot 10 inch woman from GA.
We had our dinner on Christmas Eve and Mimi was holding court in the living room.
MK is Mimi's only grand daughter and she is as smart as she is pretty.
MK's brother . father and mother.
Prince, Kitty and Puppy who is holding Cricket. Below is Cricket's Mom with Mimi. The four above photos and one below were all taken Christmas Eve.
Maggie on Christmas morning enjoying her new toy from her stocking.

The last two mornings of the year have begun in the low twenties. Burr. Prince and Puppy split wood yesterday evening and will haul it to the porch today. Nothing better than just sitting by a warm fire when it is cold outside.
The Kitty Justice is that I cannot believe this is the last day of 2014.
HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL OF YAWL OUT THERE IN BLOG LAND.

A few up close

All of these were made in the 70's and early 80's. Mother was an expert seamstress and Dad was a carpenter, so I did these for them. I have one for each family member up to my youngest Nephew. Guess I need to stitch a few more.

All of the above are ceramic that I painted. I used to do lots of ceramic items which I sold to supplement my income. I hope the ones I sold are hanging on peoples trees this Christmas.
I would consider them limited additions as I will not be painting any more ornaments.
The Kitty Justice is Puppy will hang them on his tree in the future and think of Mom.

Done

The tree is decorated. I pulled out all the "old" ornaments.
The Kitty Justice is this tree looks as if it came from the sixties. HOHOHO

the tree

Got the tree on Sunday afternoon and it sat outside until Monday late. Immediately put the tree skirt around it . We had a bio hazard ruin all my lights so I waited until Senior day, Wednesday, to go to Ace Hardware and get 5 strings of ceramic lights. You know the big bulbs like we had in the sixties and fifties. Anyway put on 3 strings that afternoon but could not reach the top. Prince put the last 2 strings on for me late yesterday and I spent most of the evening putting on ornaments. Headed to bed with 2 more boxes of ornaments to go.
The Kitty Justice, I could have left it on the porch and had a Charlie Brown Christmas.

First Christmas Present this year

Christmas season has begun as we have had our Art Venture luncheon and played the Dirty Santa game. Each artist brings an original painting wrapped in Christmas paper or bag and places their gift on a table at the party. Mz Peaches in the black outfit standing up in the left side of the photo is one of the hostess for the month of December. The other hostess is Mz. Bunny (not in the photo). Each artist draws a number (you always hope for a larger numbers because your painting will be less likely to be stolen) Yep, we steal twice and then the gift is retired and cannot be stolen again. Since I was number four and most of the other paintings had been opened, I felt safe. Not so, Mz. Cat sitting beside me had her painting stolen and she had stolen before so she said she was gonna steal again. I teased her and said she was gonna be a bad, bad , bad puddy tat. No sooner had the words gotten out of my mouth than she reached over and stole my painting. In true kitty fashion, I had already picked out a place for Sister's (lady standing behind Mz. Cat) painting therefore I was crushed. Instead of stealing, I unwrapped one that was still on the table and it was Mz Mc watercolor titled "Slipped Right Through". I got her painting last year and really wanted another artist's painting.
My goal is try to get something from everyone in our group. Did not happen this year. Seems as if I am collecting artwork by Mz. Mc. I could go over to Mz. Cat's house and steal the painting back and replacing it with something similar so she would not notice. Now to figure out how to get away with my plot. The worse was when I got home, Mz. Peaches called and informed me that Sister was resigning from the group. She was the groups online lady ,therefore, they wish for me to do the online work. This made the thievery of my painting by Mz. Cat  even worse since Sister will not be playing our dirty Santa game, next year. That deserves a healthy "CAT FUZZY,"
The Kitty Justice is I know where Mz. Cat lives. LOL

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AS I WILL BE AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER MOST DAYS.

Thanksgiving is done for 2014

This table decoration has lasted through the fall and Thanksgiving and now it is time to decorate for Christmas. Most often I spend the day after Thanksgiving putting up this and that to make the house look festive for the Christmas Season. I hope all yawl's Thanksgiving was as nice as our.  Only once did the kitty justice claws almost come out. But I refrained and just yelled "Coming through".I am usually an easy going kat but when Ten adults are standing about in your cooking space, it makes a wreck of the cook(ME). Next time I cook for the crowd, we had thirteen adults, I plan to put up crime tape around the kitchen, with a big sign No murder has been committed or will be if you keep out of my kitchen while I cook. Mimi and Wilson had left the kitchen and Mimi had tried in her gentle Southern Lady way informed folks that they needed to retire to the living room so the cook could have space. Did not work thus the thought of Crime tape next time I cook. The following were on the menu:  baked turkey, fried turkey, cranberry sauce, gravy, rice, green beans, dressing, sweet potato casserole and rolls. One SIL brought a wonderful kale super salad and my new Niece AA fix not one but two wonderful desserts, a blackberry cobbler and two fudge pies. We had our dinner at 3 pm therefore everyone was on their own if they wished something to eat later. My BIL washed dishes and my other SIL and I put away the few left overs and cleaned those dishes.
After the meals we sat and visited in the living room and Puppy went downstairs and fell asleep by the fire. Prince kept the fire going all day. Later Mimi headed to bed and those of us wishing to watch football headed for the downstairs and fire.
The Kitty Justice is I am thankful Mother taught me patience's and my claws stayed put.

Today is windy

This cloud has moved on and the sky looks darker with other clouds. We are suppose to get Sun this afternoon but look at the Holly Tree to the right and you can see it peeking through.
Oh what a difference a week makes.
The Kitty Justice if you do not like Tennessee's weather stick around and it will change.

Thankful for Maggie

This is really the first time I have let Maggie go all the way to the roadside to get the paper. But Monday morning I could see the paper was a good distance from the road side and I could watch her retrieve the paper from the shelter of the garage. The snow flurries were coming down in earnest and the last few weeks she has been acting like a young puppy. The leg surgery was well worth the cost because she is not hurting any more.
The Kitty Justice is she got well just in time to be our News Dog.

Snow flurries this morning

As you can see the flowers are now gone and I will need to replace them with greenery. They were still pretty through Thursday of last week,(13th).
I tried to capture a bird or two as they were feeding in large numbers, but alas no birds in the photo. This is looking to the right behind the log cabin. I was watching a flock of turkeys walk up the hill from the corn feeder.
As you can see you cannot see Bellevue as it is shrouded in snow flurries. We still have some color on the trees. This is looking at Jackson Hill from our house.
The Kitty Justice is that all of the photos were taken from inside the house.

Here today

My geraniums are still going strong. However, after the cold front moves in this afternoon these beautiful blooms will be no more.
Yesterday, I took some cuttings from both plants and placed them in my kitchen window just like Mother use to do before a killing cold spell. It is said we might see SNOW flurries on Saturday.

I put this pot of purple wandering jew in front of Mimi's window but I need to go out and move it so she will not have to watch it die. I could stick in the basement with the other plants to winter but I have almost run out of room for the plants.
The Kitty Justice is that we were fortunate to have outside beauties this long into the fall.

Rainy Day but not today.

Yesterday it was very foggy until mid day and it was raining when I got up and still raining when I went to sleep. It was not a gully washer but a slow and stead rain. The rain gauge shows one and half inches.
Today I did not take photos of the morning but stood at the window and let the beauty sweep over me. First, the day is clear and you can see for miles. A flock of birds flew over head and then as if on key, broke up into two separate flocks and one  headed  North and the other South. As the sun rose, the wet fields sparked as if they had been sprinkled with diamonds. I love to see the marvel of this display.  There are a few tall trees standing naked today but those with any color shone like they had new paint on them. As if on cue, a light mist of fog blew up from the pond and dulled the white barn and trees with it's shroud. I blinked and it disappeared over the tree tops and down into the valley.
Stepping outside I took a deep breath of crisp clean air. Looks like a Glorious day to me.
Now how many turkeys do you see coming to eat in the rain?
The kitty justice is to use all your senses to enjoy the gift of TODAY.

Yesterday Tuesday fourth

This was it for the sun rise because the sun was gobbled up by the clouds.
Later I took a photo of the scene from the hill and lots of trees have lost their leaves and we are also still quite green . Well we are known as the green state. However, as voters we were Red. I kept waiting for the national news to tell the nation that Tennessee under our Governor Haslem has the lowest debt of any state and we now provide any graduation senior from high school the chance to get FREE  2 years of technological school or Junior college . Not bad.
I am glad I took this photo of our neighbor's maple tree because it is raining and so foggy today that I can hardly see the blue bird houses.
The Kitty Justice is our fall color on the hill was short lived but enjoyed.

First Sunday in November 2014

LEAVES ANYONE?
After the wind BLEW, we had six inches piled at the front door. Both guys have spent 3 days blowing them away from the house but alas they come back. Why? Because most are still in the trees.
The Kitty Justice is after the beautiful color they fall to the ground.

Happy Halloween

My first collage with the trees and hills in fall color with Bandit the cat. How he has grown. LOL
Today the weather turned really chilly and it rained some in the AM and then the wind blew and blew this afternoon. It was not raining men as the song goes but raining leaves. We now have an abundance on the ground. Then right before sun down, there were a little sun shine and some blue sky coming through the clouds of the day.
The Kitty Justice is that all are Happy this Halloween.

Current Art Show at Centennial Art Center

These are some of the artwork I thought was well worth seeing. There was one artist who did only downward brush strokes in white and pastel colors and then gave them a name. I think his art work was a poor choice to place with these other talented artist.
The Kitty Justice is to see if any of these have sold.

Fall

I brought out some fall decorations for the dining room table. I found the little bird while The Pope and I went shopping in Springfield. When we worked together, we would shop together all the time. If you saw one of us in the store, well you would see the other one. We figured it out and it had been forty years, yep forty years, since we had gone shopping together. It was like we had stepped back in time and not missed a beat. If you look closely, you can see the bird's wings and back are oak leaves. My MIL thought it would look better without the glitter but I think not as it enhances it's appearance. I had intended to change the candles from pink to green but alas, not enough green candles in the house. I also wanted some new one and half inch diameter pillar candles for the candle holders in the living room. We stopped at the Hallmark shop in Belle Meade and there was not any one and half inch pillar candles. Rats, I even checked the internet and seems there are not any to be found.  I did find the color green for the dining room but they only had ten candles and I need twelve. If possible I also like to pick up 4 extra ones  of the same color because that is how many I have on the table and we always burn those. They ordered the willow green color and I am waiting for them to call and say they have gotten them in stock. Prince goes by that shop twice a day so it will be a problem to pick them up.
The Kitty Justice is to put out a display that will work all of fall and then I can change it for Christmas.
BTW Am I the only one who would like to push back all the decorations in the stores, until the SEASON?

Today

At eight thirty eight I finally took a photo of the fog this morning. Both Prince and I went out with Maggie to try an see the Lunar ellipse but alas it was not to be. We did however, see "Hoot" on the same limb of the walnut tree so we went inside and cracked open the kitchen door so we could listen to his song. Just as I sat down with my first cup of coffee, he flew off toward the pond. He must have a favorite tree he sleeps in down there during the day.
Since I did not get to enjoy a visual of Hoot, I watched the sun rise and color the fog. The sun is up high now and the fog is still in the valley.
The Kitty Justice is to get out today as rain is predicted for the other days in the seven day forecast.
BTW We can use the coming rain on the hill. Enjoy today Yawl.

Double Wedding Ring Quilt

My Mother, Vinia Kirby did the quilt top before Puppy was born and she gave it to me to finish.  After Puppy was two years old I got all the material and set the quilt up downstairs and later I brought it to the library as the light was better. My MIL and I would stop and quilt a ring and then go about our way. My intentions was for Mother's quilt top to be done by me and Puppy's Mimi. Alas, my back problems and Mimi's health made it unable for us to finish. We had done 3 full rows and a half, so I put it away until I could either finish it or find someone.
My SIL from Ms. to the rescue. In her water exercise class she came in contact with a lady, Mae Ray, who had a church quilting group. The Parkway Pentecostal Church ladies (Maxine Toten, Marie McCory, Janet Yuma and Mae Ray) finished the quilt for me. I plan to put a label with every one's name on the backside of the quilt in order for Puppy to have the history.
The Kitty Justice is it took a LONG time in completing the quilt but it was so worth it.

Today

Gooooooood Morning World. Had to catch the sunrise today as tomorrow we are suppose to have rain. It will be more welcomed than a sunrise because we are sooooooo very dry on the hill.
Again this morning "Hoot" visited the Walnut tree behind the cabin. I got to see him fly off and he has a grand wing span.
The Kitty Justice is it is about ten degrees warmer than it should be which will create storms in the wee hours of tomorrow morning.
Have a grand week end yawl.

October wonder

I took these two photos ten minutes apart. The first at six twenty-six and the second one at six thirty-six. I sent another one taken this morning to our favorite weather man, Paul on WSMV.
Later I retrieved the newspaper for Maggie and saw that the bucks have begun to rub on the 3 Leland Cypress again. They have eaten everything they can find. Like the tomatoes plants along the bottom porch along with all the Hosta leaves. They had already eaten every green leaf off the two Oak Leaf Hydrangeas that I planted last year. The Leland Cypress and Oak Leaf Hydrangeas were planted near  blue bird houses because I read the birds liked a something near by so the baby birds could land on just in case their fight was impaired. I also noticed on the driveway that the Hickory Nuts are raining down and making 4 little boats when the outer shell breaks. Did any of you every play with them in the water? I did and loved it. You could have a fleet in no time flat. Anyway, the squirrels have not made as many crumbs on the driveway as they have in the past. Wonder if the nuts are not any good?  Also, the big Walnut trees lose their leaves first and then down drop the giant green balls of walnuts. If you have never stepped on one of these on a hillside, well you do not know how fast you can slide to the bottom of the hill. Yep, done that too.
Prince and I were enjoying the sun rise , when he saw this huge bird fly into the top of the Walnut tree out behind the cabin. It was Hoot and he was a sight to see even in silhouette.
The Kitty Justice is the deer should leave my plants alone and eat the shelled corn we provide them.
