Aunt Byrd at age ten. The last week, I have added photos of people no longer with us to my tree in I have lots I wish to scan and documents so others can get copies for their trees. Someday, I hope that those interested in the family history will appreciate the efforts I have gone through.(HA THEY WILL NOT EVEN KNOW WHO I AM) I do not wish a star but it takes lots of time and effort to scan, edit and post. I added some on my Grandma, Grandpa, Mother, Dad, Stanley (BIL), Aunt Byrd etc etc.
Then on top of that I started following those little green leaves" HINTS" for people in my tree.
I have found that Mimi's Mothers line are the most interesting and also there seems to be more information and stories from that line. Most recently I got hung up on Prince's thirteenth Great Grandfather, Nicholas Atwood. The year was 1539-1586 in dear old England. Wow, I am gonna go back and read his story again. Too bad I could not find a photo of him but it would probably been a miniature or painting if there was one. He may not have had the funds to indulge in such frivolity.

Back in 2012, our neighbor Brenda brought us a big vase of these beautiful Zinnias.
She said they were Heirloom Zinnias so I saved the seed. Mimi likes the little miniature Zinnia so last year I did not plant any because I had a flower bed of full little volunteer miniatures. This year no volunteers showed up so I planted those seeds I saved. They have valiantly produced even though I have been unable to do any weeding. I planted some morning glories that were given to me and the plants were not happy where I put them so they seem rather pitiful however, I still have some seeds left so I am gonna plant them next spring.
The Kitty Justice is if you store your seeds correctly it does not matter if they are two years old.

Clean and Cleaner

I have been thinking about getting a steam mop and one day as I had the HSN on they advertised the one above. I had seen most of them were over a hundred dollars and since this was less than and more in my price range to try, I ordered one.
I waited for the boys to put it together but I finally had to get out the diagram and do it myself. Wasn't that hard but I did not want to try putting it together as I am sure it took me twice as long .
After the vaccumning was finished I thought this would be a good time to try out the mop. I got so excited about the results that I had done nine rugs before I heard Clint's voice (You got to know your limitations.
In 1973 this photos shows MY PA, Juanita and Grandma aka Bassie. The reason for this repeat photo is that Bassie was OCD. No dirt or dust had a chance if she was around. A white glove test could have been done all over her home and she would have passed with flying colors. Also, her Kitchen was her kingdom.  You had better not been in her kitchen using her pots and pans nor were you allowed to wash the dishes after the meal. The Kitchen belonged to her and you could enter but not touch. If you sat at her table she would be eyeing you vessels that had been used to eat or drink until you just handed them over to her to wash. She did not mind you sitting and visiting at the kitchen table but she always had an I out for any empty plates , cup or glasses. As I was using the mop, I thought just how much Grandma would have loved to have had one.
The Kitty Justice was to never put your cup or glass down if you wanted something else to drink..

Tour De France

This group of young men truly amaze me. First of all, they are all clean cut and everyone the media has interviewed seem to be fine men of character.
My favorites Chris Froome and Mark Cavendish had crashes and could not finish the race. So I did not pick any other favorite because of superstition.
I love seeing the country side and wish the commentators would tell us the names etc of the Churches and castles. Also it would be fun to have injected little bits of information about the country side that the rider pedal through. My battery put its little feet in the air before I could finish all the photos I wanted of the riders.
Some of the conditions that they rode through well I would be hard pressed to walk through.
Wham, wham it is over until next year. Maybe I should send in my suggestions to the commentators.
Congratulations to Vincenzo Nibali from Italy for his 2014 win of the tour.
I found it enjoyable to see the big Germany with the most talked about hair to be the winner of stage one and twenty-one. You go Marcel Kittel
Hats off to a consistent Peter Sagan as he won the Green Jersey. He was there in second place a few times but always in the leaders group. I guess he could be called a Lean Green running machine.
The King of the Mountain- Poka Dotted Jersey went to Poland's Rafal Maika. The mountains they climbed were not for sissy to try and ride up. Congrats to you.
The Best Young Rider the white jersey went to France's Thibaut Pinot. I think we will see more of him in the future as he will only get better.
The overall best time for a team was also France's Team. Forgive me but I do believe it was team Mondiale or NOT.
Our own American Tejay Van Gardener took fifth in overall. Way to go Tejay.
If I misspelled or got my facts wrong remember I have only recently gotten to be a Fan.
The Kitty Justice is to learn more each year. Now hop on your bike and get going.

Hump Day 7-23

While Kitty was going about her morning chores, Prince took these photos of the sun rise on Wednesday. I kept peaking out the kitchen window and I enjoyed it too but continue with my morning have to do's.
The Kitty Justice would be to put the have to do's on hold and just enjoy the rising sun.

Grand Pa

Feeding his chickens when he lived on his son's farm out on Stevens Lane. As a small child I remember his chickens, goats, cow, mule and rabbits that he raise. Also, the large gardens . My big sis and I used those rows of vegetables as a maze to run and play. I can still feel the loose dirt under my bare feet.
Pa smoked cigarettes that he rolled and also liked his chewing tobacco. There is a little dark spit running down his chin from the last habit. Grand Ma in the pink, hated both habits. Little did we realize that she had an obsessive cleaning disorder. Everything in her home was spic and span. The white glove test could be given at any moment and she would not fail.
Pa, Mother and Grand Ma taken during Christmas at our house. My sister has the floor basket in her home.
Pa in front of our Cedar Christmas tree. It was a true hunt when trying to find the perfect Christmas tree. No one in the country would be caught buying one and at this point in time I had not even heard of a artificial  tree. Pa would always come up to our home and spend Christmas Eve. Christmas morning he would entertain  us with  stories of his yearly encounter with Santa. One year he told us that Santa got hung in the elbow of the stove pipe and he had to take it apart to get Santa out. He would always buy us a big bag of apples and oranges for Christmas and when I was small I thought that was the only time citrus fruit was in the stores.
Both of these photos were taken in the little house my Uncle provided for his parents on Stevens Lane. Yep that is me with the long hair. I was working in Nashville and had gotten my first car, so I would go at least once a month to have dinner with them and spend time with my Pa.  Grand Ma would cook and clean(no one mess with her kitchen) and Pa and I would visit. I could listen to his stories forever. One I remember quite vividly is the one where he had gone squirrel hunting and was tired. He sat down at the bottom of this big oak and fell asleep as soon as his bottom hit the ground. He said he was dreaming about these beautiful bells playing when he awoke and looked into the eyes of a squirrel. The squirrel had crawled down the tree and was making a ringing noise on his gun barrel. Pa looked at me with those soft brown eyes and said he just did not have the heart to kill the squirrel so he came home empty handed.
Pa was the first one to get up in the morning and he would make a fire in the cook stove and brew him self a pot of coffee that was consumed before anyone feet hit the cold floors of the house.
This photo was taken when I was a teenager in high school. Pa always wore his overalls and a long sleeve shirt. One leg was shorter than the other so I could tell by his gait that it was him when he came into view. He walked almost everywhere he went in the country. He did have a mule but most often left him to other things and just walked to his destination. When I was about five or six, the cats were sitting waiting for a stream of milk from the cow Pa was milking. I was thirsty and that looked like a good way to have a drink so I asked if he would give me some. He said "Babe (that is what he called me) go get in line." I sat at the end of the row of three cats and waited my turn.  I was anticipating the nice taste of cold milk. When it was my turn, I opened my mouth as wide as possible and  the stream hit me in the face with the force of being shot from a cannon and not an udder.  Worse still it was very warm and sticky and had gotten all over my face and top. I yelled" Ugh" and Pa almost fell off his milk stool laughing.
The Kitty Justice is to not ask for something unless you know what you are getting, no matter how old you happen to be.

Big Boy Little Boy

Photo was taken on Puppy's birthday. Mr. Rowdy Bandit Katdashing is much larger now. I believe after the little boy has terrorized Maggie for the pass few weeks, well he needs to either go outside as I intended or head down to the cabin to live with Puppy.
My legs look like a salt shaker, with all the scratches and holes on top from the Kat running and then suddenly using me for a climbing pole. Yes, I did clip his nails.  I really think if something happens to him, I will get a more mature cat as I am too old for his unpredictable behavior.
Puppy went to the lake on his birthday with 4 other guys to give his first college roommate a bachelor party. Another one bites the dust. Last weekend Puppy was in his wedding party.
The Kitty Justice is that Puppy is one of the few left without an anchor.

Deal NO Dill

I have always considered this the fire works of the Herb World. The seeds burst forth on these flowerful spikes. Now there are two dates you cannot predict, when you are born and the date you die. Your name and those two dates will be chiseled in stone when you slip this earth.  These two dates are the ones dealt you but the dash in between those dates are up to you. We had a local figure who died and a full section of the paper, six pages where about his life.

Funerals happen to be a a vision of untruths and actual facts,  because most often the words spoken are for the ones who attend. I say this as I read both of my Mother's and Father's funeral transcripts yesterday. One did not say enough and the other said thinks that stranger would recognize but not the family. Well, maybe some of the family but we children (the three of us) knew the true.

My dear sister will have to Deal not dill with my BIL birthday today. She started her year of first beginning with his death on April 16th. My Grand Pa who was the first real love of my life was also born this day and he has been gone since 1973 and I really miss him but have grand memories. I feel both of these men will not really be dead to the world until the last person who remembers them are gone. Each could have had a six page section in the newspaper and it would not have been enough to tell all the wonderful things they did.

The Kitty Justice is the dash is a Big Deal not Dill.

Purple Tuesday

If you are looking down the hill in our front yard, this bush is behind the rake on the left side. Actually there are two bushes but alas only the oldest bloomed this year. As I look around the yard, I find I have lots of purple and blue flowers with a little pink here and there.
Please enlarge to enjoy the colors.
The Kitty Justice is I must love Purple.

Corner near the stairs

I changed this corner very little every year. The dragon pot stays out to get more sunshine and the others . The Rubber plant and both wandering Jew (green and variegated) are new pots from cuttings of some of the plants I wintered over in the basement. To get the full effect, I moved the Prayer Plant to the side of the Crown of Thorns and place the green Jew on that stand so it can hang gracefully rather than crawl across the porch.
The Kitty Justice is the Question "Do you have a corner that you display plants the same way year after year?"

Sun flower Sunday

The Kitty Justice is to have a Happy Day just like the Sun Flower in the Sun.

This morning

Before the sun came up. My four legged black dog got us up before the sun rose. Therefore Prince walked her and I grabbed my camera and headed for the porch.
The far hill is saying "Get off me you big ball of fire" to the Lady Sun Shine as she rest upon him.
The fog is becoming colorful from the sun. Go to my Facebook to see a whole series on the sunrise this morning.
The Kitty Justice is to take the time to enjoy all the day. The super moon goes on display tonight. It is 2500 miles closer to the earth (hope I put in enough zeros)LOL

Flowers in July

The geranium in the dragon pot is doing rather well. Close up below.

This red geranium is under two hummingbird feeders. I love the rich color and the smell. Horizontal from the red geranium is a fern that I had in the basement. I read if you brew a strong pot of tea and pour it on them when you first take them out of winter storage, they will do really well. I have been doing this and it seems to work.
The fern photo is for my SIL as she admired it daily when she was here.
I only had two glads to bloom this year and I brought the second one inside for Mimi to enjoy. I thought the colors were stunting. Be sure to enlarge to enjoy the colors of all the flowers.
The Kitty Justice is that yawl have July flowers to enjoy.

What my Native American name would be. Halona

I took the quiz and found out my name would be Halona. I must get the gang on the hill to call me my new native name.
The sun flower is a volunteer from seeds being thrown from the feeder by some of my feathered friends.
The Kitty Justice is I have finally learned how to copy and paste. LOL

Halona translates to Good fortune. You don't even have to try when it comes to getting what you want. Though you are considered a lucky one, you are still kind and caring and people can rely on you to be there for them.
Do you like your new name? Tell us in the comments!

The following was the response to my complain that the server did not advise us of the price of the specials. Our party of six had gotten there at the Early Bird hours and assumed that the specials like most other establishments would be similar to  the early bird menu prices. NOT. Even worse, we were not picking up the check but Prince's  95 year Mother was  because she had all her children out to dinner. We were told by members of the family that the reason the bill was so high was because of our meals. Mimi said it did not MATTER as she was happy to be out with all her children.
It mattered to Prince and I so, we offered to pay our part but she would have none of that, therefore, I wrote Antonio's and complained that there was no price listed on a outside board of the specials nor did the waiter give us the price. Only thing listed on the board in the lobby was wine and not even those had a price beside them.
Antonio wrote this e mail on June 28th at 8:12. I read it on Sunday late as most of us have other things to do than go to the computer on SUNDAY.  Therefore we would have a total of one day to use the coupon. What a laugh.
Thank you for your email. We appreciate all customer feedback.

Our Early Bird Menu is a separate menu from our regular dinner menu.  Not all items on the menu are discounted which is why we have a separate Early Bird Menu.  Our Daily Specials are special features for the evening and are also separate from our regular dinner menu.  Each customer who arrives during Early Bird hours is given two menus to choose from and the servers describe our Special Features of the evening.

When we opened for business 20 years ago, our servers would announce the price of the Specials when describing the delicious features of the day and we received a lot of negative feedback because so many of our customers took offense to being told the price.  Therefore, we decided it would be best to simply describe our Special Features and those customers who wanted to know the price before ordering could ask - therefore not offending those who did not want to be told.

We sincerely hope that you will be in again soon and you can take advantage of this coupon before the end of the month.

Thank you again for your feedback!
