Another glance into the past

Throw back Thursday. Prince is sitting in the sand box and his cousin Jack is standing up. Models for warm hats on the hill.
The Kitty Justice is you can still locate these trees even if they are much larger.

Really Cold Outside

My Prince builds a fire for me during these cold mornings and also stacks wood inside so I do not have to go outside. Yes, I am a very spoiled Cinderella.
Been watching the mini series Klondike and crocheting while staying warm by the fire.
The Kitty Justice is I ran out of yarn before I could finish my hat. Any suggestions?

Pretty Bloom

In the library, this little plant has decided to give me a few blooms to cheer me through the cold weather. This is the first one but alas there are more to come. The poinsettias are cheering up the hallway. I look forward to the glorious colors of spring yelling "we are back baby."
Old Lady Winter is smacking us in the face with gusty breath and chilly fingers. The next four days are to be very frigid.
I have a big pot of vegetable soup on the stove and will keep a log on the fire and just stay comfy and warm.
The Kitty Justice is to see how few times I go outside.

Throw Back Thursday

Brother Sam coloring with his daughter, Holly. Holly is a Mother of a little girl who looks like a carbon copy of her. I gave Sam the t-shirt and the caption below the deer is "Look familiar." This was after he had missed a few shots. He is currently at home with lots of medicine and oxygen. He is lucky to still be with us as he had Double Pneumonia, Heart attack and congestive heart failure.
The Kitty Justice is I request you still keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

More Art at the Mansion

At the bottom of the stairs on the left before you see the Pat Summit Trees is this very interesting piece. As you can see it is very large.

The Atrium was across from the Dolly Parton Trees. Out of all the works of art so far, I think I like this one best.
The Kitty Justice is this is a great way to recycle.

My Birthday

On the Second Sunday of the year, I have been blessed with a wonderful sun shine day. Prince and I are just gonna spend the day together. That is what I asked for my day.

Puppy brought me these flowers this morning to brighten my day and I can plant them outside to enjoy for years to come. He also went to the store early this morning and picked up some different items to make me a special birthday breakfast. I have opened his other present, coffee,  and shared it with the family this morning. Yes I drank more than my usual two cups but hey it is my DAY. Sorry no photos of the breakfast plate but it was colorful and looked very beautiful but alas, I ate it before it got cold.
I save all my birthday cards and while I have my first cup of coffee, I open them to read. Some are funny and others are heart felt feelings.
Hopefully, I can spend my day resting and doing whatever I please.
The main reason I say this is because my dear little brother has been very sick and spent most of last week in ICU with congestive heart failure. He is not out of the woods but looked much better yesterday when I visited him AND was moved out of ICU.  I had told him all I wanted for my birthday from him was him to get better and so far he has listened to his big sissy.
The Kitty Justice is for a another year with family and friends. Thanks to all who make my world special.
BTW Please add brother, Sam to your prayers as that can be your present to me. Thanks

Artwork at the Mansion

Right beside the young lady who welcomed us to The Conservation Hall was one of my favorite works of art. I have followed each work with the Tag giving the information of each work. Sorry I had to lean over (not good for the back) and take the first photo of the tag. It is a little blurry but you can still read all the information.

All of the above were in the hallway before we ventured down the steps into the main hall.
The Kitty Justice is there happens to be more art work to be shown.

Zero day

Yesterday and today, Maggie will lay in the sunshine because it was five degrees yesterday and today it hit zero. Burrrrrrrr I think I will heed her warning and stay inside and go stand in the sunshine with her.
Maggie gave me a frightful scare yesterday when I let her out to get the paper. Prince had backed it halfway up the hill but she was so excited she ran to the road looking for it. Now I was not prepared to stay outside as I was in my PJ's and Hot Pink robe with a hood, But when she bypass the well house and went to the road, I yelled for her to come back. Did not happen. She was at the bottom of the drive searching for a paper that was a fourth of the way up the drive. She would head to the road and car horns would honk and then she would search the side of road where the mail box stands. Then she would head back to the road way. I started frantic yelling, clapping my hands and running(okay a real fast walk) down the yard. Each time a car horn would honk, my heart would head for my throat. I know it was a sight, a big black dog on the road and this HUGE hot pink apparition running frantically down the hill. She finally grasped that she was to come back without the paper. When Prince called, he said he had picked it up with his gloves on so it probably masked his smell. I proceeded to put everything I owned on to keep me warm  and then I accompanied her down to get the paper. Did not have to do any exercise to get my heart rate up, yesterday. Dog on the road was enough.
Today it was 0.9 when I got up and yes it was still dark. I thought since it was so cold, I would just let her out to do her morning ritual. Next thing I know she is off down the hill and back as a flash with paper in her mouth.
I have trained her to Wait until I tell her to GO get the paper but I guess she figured it was too cold for those commands.
The Kitty Justice is she really just wanted to get the job done so she could get back in the warm house.

Cold Water

Yesterday Prince and I headed to Center Hill Lake to check on the cabin. Afterwards, we headed back on Hwy 56 and first stop was the overlook. There was a white boat headed up the lake. Burr. We had spotted two fishermen out near the underwater island, fishing. Burr. The Hurricane Bridge was finished and I jumped out and made a photo of the bridge and then a photo on either side of the deep blue water.
We drove through Smithville, Dowell town, Liberty, Watertown and Shop Springs. Shop Springs has a Lindsley Road and at the end is a cabin where Prince's maternal Grandmother was born and raised. Since we are suppose to get down to single digits tonight and the wind is blowing rather unheeded with a freezing attitude, Prince has gone around batting down and securing all places that might FREEZE. Needless to say I wanted snow with cold weather but never ever would I want single digits and wind. Double Burrrrrrrr!!!!
Prince just came in and said the wind sounded like a jet airplane going down the valley.
The Kitty Justice is that Sunshine might fool yawl like the photo above but today the sunshine has been covered by fast moving clouds.

here we are

Christmas 2013 has come and gone and New Years followed close behind. I hope that yawl had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. Prince's last day of vacation was spent playing in the yard. He has been off for about two weeks and it was great having him around the house. We did lots of little things together which was so much fun for us ole folks. The first around here was sunny and warm but the second was very windy with an occasional snow shower. Then the bottom fell out last  night and we awoke to 13 degrees with a wind chill factor of 5 degrees. Today was the first sun rise we witness. It was pretty but not anything as spectacular as others we have had however it sure was pretty to us. The Tennessee hills were a true blue and the ones in the distances still have a blue hue. Maggie did not linger outside due to the temperature. Puppy came up yesterday and built a fire downstairs because I can no longer wrestle the back logs on the grate. I can keep it going but alas putting a back log on is a thing of the past. Yes, I am gonna try to be more like Clint Eastwood this year and know my limitations. Gotta stay upright. I figure I will get another outside kitty when the weather gets a little warmer. Moe never wanted to be shut inside so maybe the next one will like to sleep in the garage. If by accident Moe got shut in the garage his eyes would get bigger than saucers and he would climb up on top of the car trying to figure how to get out the windows. Therefore we always checked before the garage door came down at night because we did not wish to terrorize Mr. Moe. If we get another male cat, I plan to keep the Stooges theme and name him Larry.
Since I have been spending time with Prince the computer has been very idyll and I did not send out my New Year cards.
The Kitty Justice is to wish yawl a Happy New Year and hope 2014 will not be one we wish to forget.
