Instead of getting help for the those who have mental problems, TN has put up a Fence to keep people from jumping off the Natchez Trace Bridge. Now the bridge's view has to be seen through a chain link fence which is so ugly to the eye. Once a beautiful place that I would take family and friends is now a prisoner of the inability to deal with the real problem.

The guy who fixed it told her they are fixing lots of errors on the quick build buildings. The builder was from Atlanta that built hers and he took his money out of the state and left this young lady with lots of problems of which the sink was just a minor one.

Recently I heard on the news that Garth Brooks would be building a bar downtown called Low Places. Mr. Brooks downtown Nashville does not need another bar. Downtown is a big time southern mess but I say most of these bars are not owned by Tennessean. So my city has been taken over by drunks . That evening as we were coming home from a cousin wedding, I saw entertainment buses, tractors with wagons, pedal tavern and I was totally disgusted. When the weather was nice we loved to sit on the porch and watch the wild life. As for wildlife, this morning the birds were in rare form. I enjoyed watching them having their morning meal. I wished to see if our family old houses we had rented in the small community of Elmwood were still there . I was in third grade when our house on the Marks farm burnt. As far back as I could remember our little family lived in the house with my mother's parents. Thus when we moved into this house I was not happy. My first love, Pa now lived somewhere else. From left to right, Cousin Bill, his son Charlie from Alabama, and my MIL, Mimi.

Bill had some health issues and was in a safe jail(assisted living place) for months. No one could visit him or take him anywhere. If he was taken out he would have to quarantine for 2 weeks. The damn pandemic was not kind to folks who are in assisted living anywhere. To give him a better life his daughter from Ft Worth came to get him to live with her family. He has been very attentive to his Aunt Mary Tom and celebrated all the Holidays up on the Hill. This will be the first holiday without him. If I could not get anyone to help me for one reason or other all I had to do was call Cousin Bill and he would say when do you need me and what can I bring. I will be there. It was a great comfort to know I could count on him for anything but the worse is we will miss his presence and his stories of the old days. I sure hope he has written them down for the future generations. He and I made a great team cleaning up the kitchen afterwards. Bill would tuck a dish towel into his belt, roll up his sleeves and the dishes. pots and pans would be cleaner than an automatic dishwasher could get them. I would dry and put them away. We would have a nice visit as we worked . Things change.

My 101 and 6 month old MIL went to the Lord the end of October due to congestive heart failure and the funeral was not until five days later. We did a grave side service and the day was sunny with blue skies (her favorite color) and it was a beautiful service. At the end of the service, my son Puppy read a poem I found on the Internet over six years ago and I had kept a copy, not knowing why. It was titled "Letter from Heaven". Therefore the Matriarch of the Family will be absence from the table at Thanksgiving and as all families have to do we must start our Year of Firsts.

I pray for all the families who will have an empty chair at the table and have began their year of firsts who lost them not to an ailment or move to another state but whose loved ones were taken by Covid.

The Kitty Justice is It is 2020.
Lady Di Tnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13314994067842063387noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33386507.post-81383991480432552602020-08-03T13:56:00.001-07:002020-08-03T13:56:09.861-07:00Where oh where is 2020

July has come and gone but we did have several cloudy skies. We watched as the rain went all around the Hill but could not make the 925 ft, above sea level to us. It was like the Hill was an island when it came to rain as it was only raining in the sea land around us. Then on the 30th we got one and half inches on the Hill. It sure was refreshing to see rain drops.
Cinco de Meow O has not been seen in several days. I guess he fortify himself with Bat Kitty's food so he could continue his wandering. Maybe he is trying to get home. The Amazon person let 2 dogs out Sunday and they came up Poplar Creek road and crossed our lane just so they could try to catch Bat Kitty. She ran up the large Magnolia Tree by the front of the house and she was up higher than our rooftop. Prince was able to catch one and luckily it had a phone number on the collar. A nice elderly lady came up to get them and take them home. It took awhile to lure Bat Kitty down with Temptations in hand. She was leary to come out from under the truck . My Cousin Glenda also gave me several Lillies , yarrow and a I cannot remember the name of the other item. Oh well I will just call her up. Anyway, since it has NOT rained here, I have been watering the new plants every other day and yesterday was their time for a drink. It had been cloudy most of the afternoon and I gave up on Mother Nature watering them so I pulled the hose out front around the Z71 parked in the driveway and started watering. I yanked one time too hard getting a kink in the hose so I rushed back to where the offending kink happen to be gathered and as I rounded the Z71, I stepped off the drive on the left side into the hole where the drain pipe goes under the driveway. Down I went on all fours. I slide a few feet as I had good momentum to remove the kink as quickly as possible. I finally got up( you know it sure does take a lot longer to get up in this 7th decade) turned the water off and went inside to clean my scrapes up. Both hands had two holes which looked like teeth marks and my right knee took the blunt of the fall.
I washed each place up good with dial soap and then use a disinfectant and Neo Sporin on them. I bandage the knee scrape but knew movement of my hands would be restricted if I put a bandage on them besides I still had the rest of the chicken taco meal to finish and watering the plants.. Anyway, with teeth gritted I put liquid bandage on those 4 spots. Then I danced around the bathroom as my hands were on fire. Why do they not make this stuff not torture you when you apply it to a cut?
My little Japanese Iris have started to bloom. I think most will have to be dug up and replanted in shadier areas. I do not apologise I am a gun packing southern woman. Now those who hate southern history are trying to erase us from the face of the country. Those who think it was about slavery should dig into the history books to find out it was about money. Yep the root of all evil but it sounds better if you say it is about slavery. It gets more press and sympathy. Most southern did not own slaves and think about it WOULD YOU NOT DEFEND YOUR HOME IF IT WAS INVADED? If you every read about Robert E Lee you would know he was an honorable man but look how the people of his beloved Virginia have treated his statue. Now they want to destroy it. I feel sad and angry as an artist for the the person who created the statue and erected the monument. We as a people should NOT GIVE in to mob justice or what the mob thinks is justice. I feel very sad that those who DO NOT KNOW HISTORY ARE DOOMED TO REPEAT IT.
This is Cousin Bill down in Alabama bird hunting. It was a yearly trip until 2019.He came up with a cute saying when the guys at the camp were fooling around after dinner. He announced from the bedroom door that he was "Gonna go make a sheet sandwich". So now we do not say we are going to bed but "Gonna go make a sheet sandwich" He was the one person in the family I could rely on besides my boys on the Hill. He was fun to be around because he had endless stories from his youth, hunting, work and family. He was in charge of the Hurt reunion in 2005 and 2010. So yes he was a family historian too. He was the relative who would keep in touch with all sides of the family. Kind of like the family glue. He produced lots of historian pictures and shared lineage that we would not have had if it had not been for him. He was 85 before he every had to darken the doors of a hospital. Pretty darn good record. In the last six months, he has fallen several times but broken not one bone but he was banged up pretty good. He has been in 3 different hospitals and rehab twice. Last week he moved to assisted living. He has therapy twice a week and I pray he will become stronger. If you can please add him to your prayers as I believe in the power of prayer. He finally got his phone number transferred to his new place and maybe we will get to hear his kind voice soon. Also, the lock down on such places with be lifted soon and we can visit with him
The latest walk on cat has been named by Puppy. He calls him Cinco d Meow O. Reason he is the fifth walk on in recent years. I knew with the jobs being lost and folks having a hard time their animals would be the first to suffer. He is not afraid of people so he is either lost which I doubt or has been tossed out to fend for himself. Thus I began to feed him. I hate to see any animal just trying to survive go hungry. Yes I know by feeding him he now officially mine. However being a cat he will be no ones unless he wants to be. Just a cat way of life.
This is Bat Kitty. I named her that because one ear was clipped. She also was a walk on and we had gone to the Humane Shelter wanting to know the easiest way to capture her so we could take her to the vet. At that time we had a walk on male who had not been fixed and I did not wish have a bunch of kitties to deal with. The male cat was named Cinnamon and he loved Maggie and when I took her for her last ride, Cinnamon would have nothing to do with me. He never forgave me for taking his dog away. You see Maggie would go by the Dutch Barn in the morning on her way to and from getting the paper for Mimi. That was where Cinnamon was living so they became buddies before we even knew Cinnamon was on the Hill.

Going back to Batty, the man at the shelter told us it was a universal sign when a cats ear was clipped it had been fixed and released. So we came home happy that kittens would not show up. After awhile Cinnamon just left the Hill to never return. That made her happy as she was now number one outside cat. She loves to bring me presents so I must be careful when I first step outside. I like to have her sleep in the garage so she is safe from predators at night. Coyote especially and we do have a family of Bobcats in the woods below the fruit trees.

Now before our town and this area was so built up the four way stop was a great place to drop off animals. Had one little beagle walk on who would get loose and I would always find him down at the four way stop waiting for his owner. Uncle Jack and his wife took in several dogs, a bird dog, a spits, a long haired black dog. All were walk ons. Not to mention the number of cats who came up the hill. I always get mad when I see the little animals which have been left to fend for themselves. One in partically was 2 kittens put out at our well house with a bowl of food. I called them nose and ears as those parts were different colors than the rest of them. They went to live with our friend in Collinwood and I was later told they were the best cats she had ever had.

I have noticed in the Bellevue Facebook that there are lots of photos of lost dogs and and a few cats. Some have found their way home through post.
This is my First Grade Class at Forks River School in Smith County, TN. Guess which one is me? Here are a couple of hints, I am in the 2nd row and I was a Tom Boy from birth. I loved being at home and thought I was being punished to have to go to school so instead of going out to play at recess, I would stand in the hall crying wishing for home for at least a month before I realized learning was actually fun and with that I never looked back.

When I would learn a task and get 100 on my papers, I became bored. No challenge. Therefore, I started erasing the 100 from the top of the paper and resubmit it again and again. When the teacher realized what I was doing she said I was cheating but I replied I already know how to do it. So I was tasked to write it 100 times on the black board at recess.

I feel the Pandemic has made everyone appreciate the unsung heros, Teachers. Those parents who have just left the kids grow up instead of raising them are now having to home school or guide them to study and do homework . I bet all those hard working teachers are laughing up their sleeves at the hullabaloo the parents are encountering.

Teachers are really a breed all their own. They like the roll and love the kids and enjoy the accomplishments. As for me, if I had had to teach, I would have been looking for giant rolls of velcro to stick the hooties on the wall. LOL Or I might have gone to jail for using duct tape to keep the peace. Therefore, I marvel at the patience and fortitude of the teachers.

Okay I am aware there are a few bad apples in the teacher catagory but they are few and far between. Most are loving, caring and called to do a job that most of us are unqualified to do, But now some of you are having to do it. Hehe I am so happy my child is out of school. However, when he hurt his knee in football, I did have to be his teacher for most of his sophomore year in High School.

I bet you have a favorite teacher just as I do. She taught me in fifth and sixth grade. I learn most everything I needed to build on in her classes. Each class was easy after I had her and I was always thankful I got to be in her classes. In those days respect for ones teacher was a given and she would stand tall and provide us wisdom in each subject. I would always listen to her even when in a split classroom as I was afraid I would miss something.
Here is a photo Puppy took of the moon on May 6th of this year. I know the Moon is thinking "What has happen to Mother Earth people?"

First of all if what I told you happen at Walmart was in reverse. The whites were black and the blacks were white there would be an out cry that whites are racists.

Like good little soldiers both Prince and I had on our Mask (it is really hard to breath in them) . We also followed the 6 ft rule and the markings on which way you entered an isle. The isle thing can increase your time in the store especially if you have to go down one to get to the isle you need to go down. .

We did not get in a self checkout line because I do not like them nor do I wish to give the store another excuse to not employ someone to be a checker. Our check out line had a black checker. We were third in line. The line had a black person checking out, a white man with very few items in front of us and then us and followed us was another black person.

The checker had her mask on properly as she checked out the first black person. As the man in front of us moved up to place his items on the counter when the black person was paying, the black checker yelled at him that he needed to move back until she finished checking out the first black person. As we waited in line, a black lady with just her mouth covered almost ran over me to speak to the black person behind me. She never ever volunteer to move away so I inched closer to Prince. As I did I expect the cashier to yell at me not the two chatty black women.

Finally, we get to check out. First of all the checker made only a pretense at wiping the counter, one swipe, and she did not have her mask properly worn. The whole mask was under her chin. She looked at us as if to say, do not say anything, which we gladly did not. At this point we only wanted to pay for our items and leave.

The Kitty Justice if you are white you can be yelled at for not staying social distance and you do not have to wear the mask properly to check out white people. Also, if you are black you can ignore social distance and run a person almost over from the opposite isle to be a chatty kat and not have your mask on properly. Have you ever heard the Christmas song "Grandma got run over by a Reindeer". Well last Saturday Kitty Justice got run over by a Dog. Margie Rains had the zoomies and Puppy had just said to me "Mom she is gonna knock you down" and down I went. She knocked me on my back and the back left side of my head got a huge knot on it. Needless to say this week has been unproductive as I try to heal up. I started my 7th Decade this year and believe me falling is NOT fun in this decade especially when it is hitting a concrete driveway, Sunday was horrible because my neck and shoulders had a giant case of whiplash. The knot on my head had gone down with ice packs on Saturday but Sunday I could not get comfortable and today my head is still very sore. If you touch my too long hair (due to no salons being open) it is very painful. But I can say the ole body is getting better but VERY SLOWLY. I am thankful that it is not worse.
Meet walk on number 5. He showed up about 3 weeks ago but we do not see him daily. Puppy suggests we call him Cinco de Meow O. I guess with the economic crises from the Pandemic will create more walk ons. The little animals are the first thing people having hard times get rid of but it would be nice if they would take them to a shelter instead of throwing them out to survive. I guess with my feeding him he is now mine. Hope he turns out to be as good a cat as Bat Kitty (photo below)she is also a walk on and we have had her for a few years now. She keeps trying to come inside but my Lilly kitty is having none of that so she sleeps in the garage at night and wonders the yard during the day. She loves to eliminate the moles. voles and chipmunk population on the hill.
Bandit is Puppy's cat at the cabin. He loves for Puppy to open up the windows and he will sit and watch the outside animals. He is watching Bat Kitty follow me around the yard. He is a One Owner Cat. He loves Puppy and like a furry butler he always greets him when he comes through the door. However the rest of us he just lets exist . Do not try to touch him nor turn your back on him. I have gotten quite good walking out of Puppy's cabin backwards.
The Pretty Birds did not stay as long this year as they have in the past They stay at least a month or more however this year they came April 21st and left May 16th. We truly appreciated their entertainment while they were here.
