Another painting by Lenard. Do you recognize the place? Lenard painted in oils and when I would enter art class I would get a whiff of oil paints and turpentine. That smell would draw me quickly into the past and I would envision myself back at UT taking classes from Gus Baker. Ah, to walk down memory lane by just entering the room. After we would spend the morning painting, we girls would gather around Lenard for lunch break. If it was nice weather we would head out to the courtyard where there were picnic tables with umbrellas for shade. Unfortunately, only Lenard, our mutual friend and I are left out of that group. He would often share some of Shirley's baked goodies with us.Yummy, we felt as if we were special when he shared those heavenly treats. His quick humor and his telling of jokes would entertain us ladies. His raspy voice was unique and it was great to listen to the wisdom of Lenard

This is one of the few paintings hanging in Lenard and Shirley's apartment. When I started taking classes from Hazel King, the first person I would see would be Lenard. Just like all the rest of us he would have his usual spot and it was always by the class door. As I would come down the small hallway he would look up and say "Good Morning." I had not seen him for awhile but kept up with him through a mutual friend. Our mutual friend and I went to visit them and he graciously let me take pictures of his paintings. I will show the other paintings in future posts.

Sunday January 22nd, I was greeted by Moe and he had had an encounter with a skunk. Even his cubie and cushion in the chair had the unpleasant odor. I had a bottle of Natures Miracle and I proceeded to spray him and his cubie and cushions. Prince put a fan blowing on the cubie so it would dry.

Wednesday 25th, I let Maggie dog out for her first morning outing and she did her business and then took off running behind the log cabin. I heard her chasing something and when she returned with her head and tail tucked she had lost an encounter with a skunk. Again I got out the Nature's Miracle and rubbed her down. Then I made her spend the day in the kitchen . I do believe the odor is trapped in my sinuses. Everyone else on the hill say they do not smell it however, there is a faint odor of Peppe LaPew.

Sam Cat does not go out side so he is safe from the skunk.

The link below belongs to The Cedar Place where lots of beautiful things are made. Our friend Danny runs it now that his father died. Please visit to see some great items. Now if you recall, my FIL had a cherry tree cut to make Prince some furniture but never got it done before his death in 1975. Danny has taken most of the wood and made some wonderful furniture for us. This is the last of the wood and he made the table from the measurements I provided. He sat down in the shop and drew it out and I was thrilled to say that was what I wanted. I had gotten these rather different glass knobs and had him use them on the drawers. Between my friends, Danny and Rick, I feel I have accomplished what my FIL wished to happen to the wood. I did not know of it existence until the man who use to work on the farm asked me one day what I wanted to do with it and his suggestion was to burn it. I rarely shop for myself as I get a thrill buying things I think others will like. However, when Sis and I were on one of our retail therapy trips, I saw these Angels. Being the frugal person that I am, I bought only the one standing. Sis said the next day, she rushed back to the store and bought the two sitting. Those along with other things I can use example body lotion, body bath and a super nail polisher were in my Christmas package from her. I put them in my bed room so I see them first thing in the morning and the last thing at night.

THIS PHOTO IS JUST LIKE OUR GOVERNMENT. THE LIGHT IS WHAT THEY LET US SEE AND THE BLACK IS WHAT WE DO NOT SEE. We have TOO MUCH government controls and not enough freedom of the people. The actual percentage of people out of work is 15.7 percent. I and my big Sis have a real good idea as to how to change our government.
1. They should be paid only the minimum wage while in office.
2. All of their assets should be put in a Trust to not be used while in office.
3. Any gains on their wealth while in office should be put in a fund for the hungry.
4. If the government cannot come to a decision then the people in that part of the government are NOT to be paid nor reimbursed later but will have to pay the government for their Indecision.
5. Their retirement and health benefits should be the same as the American public, NO special benefits to be made for serving our country. This could be modeled after our US servicemen benefits. THERE IS NO POLITICIAN AS GOOD AS ANY SERVICEMAN.
6 RID THE COUNTRY of ENTITLEMENTS AND PUT THEM BACK TO WORK.

Here is the birthday lunch Peaches serviced. She served us hot rolls to go with it and afterwards, we each got a Chocolate Pastry with a candle in the top. When we blew our candle out we each one made a wish.

I got more cards and presents yesterday after I did the post. The red gloves and bookmark were from Cat, the black photo clutch from Peaches along with the horse book and the blue note clutch from Knoxie. Peaches had us girls over to lunch and a yummy one it was. When we four get together it is a hen party of fun. Our friendship started with the love of Art and painting. It has continued to bloom into a very caring and loving basket of exotic flowers. Each one as individual and colorful as a precious stone.

It was a rather sobering sight to see the McGavock Confederate Cemetery on December 17, 2011 without any acknowledgement of the season seen anywhere among the grave. The above photo was taken from the back of the cemetery and the one below was taken as we went through the gates at the entrance.

It was uncanny quite on a cool day as if the dead were crying out wanting to be remember at Christmas. This is a monument for 225 unidentified soldiers who exist in eternity without anyone knowing their names. They were some one's son, brother, husband, father, uncle or cousins.

This is the top of the monument and as I snapped the photo I wondered if Great Uncle William or Great Uncle Pleasant are lying under this stone. My Great Grandfather Samuel's brothers went off to fight for the south and according to my cousins writings in 1994 were believe to be killed at the Battle of Franklin or Battle of Murfreesboro. But where do they rest.

There were 1.496 young men from the south killed at the Battle of Franklin. The kitty justice is these boys were fighting for their homeland and state rights not what is taught in most places.

OOPS!!!!!!!! Above is my Miss October of My Calendar Girls series. It was my understanding that I was painting Geisha girls.
However, I purchased a booth at the Market fest at our local Y and was told by not one but two ladies that some of my girls are Chinese and not Japanese, as I had thought for YEARS.
The first oriental lady told me that Miss March, Miss May and Miss February were not Japanese. She did not show the polite Japanese side that I much appreciate about their culture. She walked away from my booth in a HUFF saying "I am Japanese, and I know Japanese." THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I EVER HAD EVEN THOUGHT OF SOME OF MY LADIES AS ANYTHING BUT JAPANESE. First of all, I would never insult the Japanese in any form as I consider them the world's most polite society. Just look how they reacted to the great earthquake disaster.
The second oriental lady was much younger than the first and she explained to me why she considered Miss October and Miss September to be Chinese instead of Japanese. It was their clothes. Both indicated Miss March was Chinese because of her hair. Puppy who was keeping me company at the booth said I could redo the months in question. Duh, it took me THREE years to paint all of these ladies and the cultures in question will have to forgive my knowledge and limitations. I think all my Calendar Girls are beautiful ladies no matter what nationality they happen to be.

This post was inspired by Patty's comments about the black panther. Our inside cat, Sam (photo on the side bar) loves to take items from the living room hearth. One Christmas he would take the beanie baby of Scooby from the living room each night. He takes them back to Mimi's bedroom and sometimes hides them under the bed but most of the time he just leaves them in the middle of her floor. After he got tired of Scooby, the next Christmas, he was stealing the Christmas bunny but his favorite of all is the doll box. The last several Christmas, we find the doll box in different places and he has just about taken the curl out of her hair. It is a Christmas game we play.
The Kitty Justice is this year he has not bother any of the toys, I guess he wants me to put out something New. Silly Cat.

The Cedar Wax Wings and Robins did not get all the Holly berries. Prince got a new saw and he trimmed the Holly trees (four of them) and we have lots of branches to haul off today.

A couple of my Santas that I used to decorate with this year. How is that for the moon and star?

This is a wooden Santa and most all my Santa were given to me by Aunt Karen. Each year they go out and we think of her. The Snowman was given to me by my big Sis last year , the little cups came out of my stocking one year and the box was given to me by my good friend Kay.
The Kitty Justice is that I have lot of items to decorate with but the wonderful thoughts I have of those who gave them to me is the best.
Second Kitty Justice is maybe we will have lots of little Holly trees spring up from the branches we put in certain areas.

My Mother's Christmas spirit is showing up in Puppy this year as he has gone all out in lighting up the hill.

All the photos were taken by him of the lights. This one shows the entire front of the house.

This is the large cedar tree by the basketball goal. It has grown quite a lot. Thanks to Mr. Frank for planting it for us many years ago.

My SIL, Bep and Cousin Bill visiting on Thanksgiving day before the meal was served. Cousin Bill usually says "the dirty dishes are MINE". That is the best thing he can do for the cook and he always cleans up the dishes at any dinner he attends. Also, if I need ANY HELP I can always count on him. Bep is a retired school teacher and has visited several weeks at a time since she retired. I more or less just hand everything over to her to do when she walks into the house. That gives me some well deserved time for WHATEVER I choose to do even if it is nothing at all.

Bep's youngest Louie always tells us to give him a job and this time, it was to fix the curtains. While we were all visiting he was up on a ladder trying his darnest to complete the task. Alas, we need a new curtain rod. The kitty justice is it was a beautiful sunny day for Thanksgiving.

Prince spent Thanksgiving knee deep in leaves. He loves the goat which is hidden by the leaves. Puppy took the back pack blower and helped him herd the leaves down the hill.

I spent the days in the kitchen and this photo was a whole week after the horrible hair cut. Even though we were busy, it was a very enjoyable Thanksgiving.

This is the only photo that I have of all four of Grandma and Pa's children. From left to right, My Mother (Vinia), Dorothy, Roy and Carolyn. They posed by their age. The last one of that generation died 11-11-11. May Uncle Roy rest in Peace.

These photos were taken when the house was being built back in November 1964. At that time Bellevue was still on the outskirts of Nashville and the maze of sub division had not been thought about. It was before TVA came along and put in a huge power line in our view.

I got this in an e mail and had to share with y'all. I went to get the tags for our cars and on my return trip home I was caught in Joe Biden Traffic Hell. I and many others spent time in this traffic nightmare. It took me an hour to get home and on a bad day usually it takes 15 minutes. He came on an unannounced visit for a fundraiser at a home in Belle Meade. Now this was between the hours of 2-4 and traffic at that time is not light.
The kitty justice is I was not surrounded but there was one Unannounced one in town.

We have four big holly trees out back and one out front near the turn around. Just wanted to show you the berries and wish the birds will leave us some to decorate for Christmas. The Cedar Wax Wings usually come by flocks for a week and eat all the berries if the robins do not see them first.

I dug this tiny sprig of a tree up out of the woods lot across the drive. The second year in it's new spot the tenant farmer cut it down with a mower. Then a couple of years ago, a huge oak limb from the massive oak fell and broke off the right side limbs. I would call this Maple a sturdy tree.

This is one of the most unusual houses in Nashville. I have always heard it was called "A Small World". After I had taken the photo, I walked back to my car which I had parked in J Percy Warner Park and an older gentleman was loading up his golf clubs and changing his shoes. He said he notice I was taking the photo of the house and asked if I knew anything about it. I told him "I did not except, that my son loved the house design." He told me the cone section was the owners office and the top of the cone was glass where he could look at the stars at night and meditate. He also informed me that the identical sides were decorated differently. One side of the house the man decorated and the other side the lady decorated.
The Kitty Justice would be fun if this house is ever on a home tour to go inside and see how each side of the house is decorated.

The back porch looks naked without all the house plants sitting and hanging. I am just happy I do not have one hundred and fifty like I did in the years past. Prince was checking to see if any animals had come to the corn feeder.

It has been TOO HOT for Prince and Puppy to cut up that big oak tree that fell this spring that took out our electricity. Saturday they tackled the tree and got about half of the upper part done. The kitty justice is it was a HUGE TREE.

We are still getting tomatoes. Prince gathered a good dozen last Thursday evening. With the weather gonna be in the high seventies and maybe eighties, we will put off gathering all the green ones in hopes they will continue to ripen.
The Kitty Justice is I think frying a green tomato is a waste of a good ripen tomato that you could slice for a BLT.

This is one of many of the Scarecrows throughout the gardens. It was named First Faces of the First Westerns. I took lots of photos but most were taken vertically. I rotated them in my file and reduced the size but blogger loads them sideways.
Kitty Justice is at a lost as to how I can load these photos. As you can tell I loaded two vertical photos on Monday and blogger took them the way they are on my files. Why it will not let me show the vertical Scarecrows I have no idea.

Views from the back porch taken one week apart. There is not as much color change as in the maple tree out back of the neighbor's house. This is one of the five trails you can take from the Center.

This was built to give you a better look at Davies Island, shown below. This Island is the southeast view.

As you can tell on the ground you cannot see the Island as well. From the southwest view is the Caney Fork River passing under Hurricane Bridge. However, with the leaves on the trees, it was barely visible.
The kitty justice is we will have to go back when the leaves have fallen to get a better view.

All along the sidewalk were metal and glass objects. I found this glass worm beautiful and wished for only this type of worm to be in my garden.

The last shop had this huge glass disk hanging from the front. Now this would be worthy of the word "COOL."

First garden artwork was these concrete trio. I could not find a name plaque on any of them.

There were at least three Totem poles that were over ten feet high. These faces were more my level.

When you step back out of the ACC, and turn to your right, you will walk right into a willow tree.

Not unless you jump off the landing. However, you feel up and personal with this big tree.

To the left of the fireplace is a small hallway to Gallery One. I could have spent a day or two just looking around. Only had one hour before it closed.

So I will have to go back but at this point I began snapping photos. When I entered the door this was the view to the right. The photo below is a close up of the table and you can see into Gallery Two.

This was on the other side of the display where the table is located and this display was up against the wall. I think this table maker had a wrap sense of humor. I did like the details on the fish. The photo below was taken when I turned around and stood in the same spot.

I really love these lamps but they would not go with my decor.

The lamps are out of the photo on the right and this is the display from that angle.

Beautiful Autumn dishes. Soon we will have lots of oak leaves on the ground at the hill.

There was something for every one and yes all of it is for sale.

Gallery Two had artwork by April Flanders. "Outbreak Populations" was printmaking and installation. The photo below is a close up. This wall was on your left as you enter Gallery Two.

At the end of the room was a wall and it was called "Fast Growing" also by April Flanders . It was a cut and stained paper and graphite. When you entered the open doorway on the left, you encounter a work by Jay Song called "Spectator" which is a metal/mixed media and traditional Korean Dak paper and steel wire. The following are photos and the last two are close ups.

When you step into the Center and look straight ahead and up you will encounter the first of many beautiful crafts.

Congressman Joe L Evins of Smithville was one of many Tennesseans that started their political career in the Tennessee General Assembly. His picture is on tiles which is located on the right of the fireplace.

On the left of the fireplace were tools to tend a fire. Check out the ash sweeper.

This is the metal door which leads into the back of the Art Gallery. The double doors is where the Redbud Cafe is located. Tomorrow I will show you what is inside.

A little metal man stands among the flowers. Wherever you look you find something interesting.

Hurricane Bridge on Highway 56. The draped area on the left of the bridge is where they are currently working and only one lane is open on the bridge. Our cabin is off Highway 56 on the left side of the photo and the right side of the photo is where the Center is located. Please enlarge the photo. On the left side is where the main channel is located and it is around 160 feet deep and on the right side is the shallow (if you can call it shallow but compared to the other side it is shallow) end. We were told that the bridge was built in the same time frame and style as the one that collapsed a few years ago up north. Glad they are fixing it. Now for a little unpleasant history. A few years back a fellow was killed and his body was tossed off the shallow end of the bridge. If they had thrown him off on the other side he might not have been found as he was weighted down. The kitty justice is the murderers were not familiar with the depth of the lake from the bridge.

Prince and I went to the Center the Friday we were at the lake. This is located off Highway 56 just across the Hurricane Bridge (at the moment being worked on)and you have to take an immediate left and then up you go on a scenic road with a rock wall that reminds Prince of Germany roads. Other parts of the drive have wooden fences. When you arrive an unassuming building greets you but when you walk around outside and inside you realize this is another of Tennessee Treasures.

Just outside the front door are these little metal flowers and other artwork. Please enlarge to see details. Now the Center is a satellite campus of Tennessee Tech University located in Cookeville, TN. It is a 87,000 square foot facility located on 500 wooded acres with 4 trails for those who like to hike. Inside is located a wonderful Gallery with fine Southeast regional crafts and the "Redbud Cafe" which you need to call for seasonal hours (615-597-6964) There are two annual celebrations , one in Spring ( held in April this year) and the other is a Holiday Festival that will be held November 25-27. The Gallery will be open until December 23, therefore, you make still get a Xmas gift or two. Everything is original and you cannot get this quality at a Mall.

Afternoon sky at Center Hill Lake.

This is a photo I took at the Hwy 56 overlook of the lake. Again note the clear smooth water and the reflection in the water. Where I was stand going down to the lake is a huge rock cliff. Lots of times in the summer, we like to swim along the left side shown in the photo. Hwy 56 bridge is to the right and cannot be seen from the overlook.
The kitty justice is I want to go back and float around in the reflections.

These are photos that I took of the clear water of Second Creek at Center Hill Lake last week. Prince took off a couple of days while Bep was here to care for Mimi and we headed to the lake for some R & R. We did not even take Maggie so we could sleep late and go out without thinking we must return to take her out or feed her. You might need to enlarge to see the crane in a couple of the photos. As stated before the water level is low due to the continued work on the dam. We saw a deer on the shoreline and ducks in the air. The kitty justice is what can get better than this.

Dell, Mimi and Jane in the above photo. Dell and Jane came to our house for a mini Sewing Club luncheon. Over sixty three years ago, the Sewing Club began. There were several ladies at the time and they would meet every three weeks. It started as a true sewing club and the ladies made baby clothes for their first born. Several members came and went but the last twenty six years it has been the same ladies. When I came into the family the most of the ladies had put their sewing needles aside and were into getting together and just having a good meal and fellowship. Keeping up with each others. Most usual I would have the good fortune to help Mimi prepare the house and meals for the Sewing Club girls. I enjoyed sitting and listening to their stories. This get together was a spur of the moment idea of my SIL who had come up from Jackson to be with Mimi therefore we did not have time to properly invite Mz Mary because she lives in assisted living in Hendersonville. Dell was so cute talking about her granddaughter that lives with her and how she did not approve of the way she dressed when going out in the evenings with friends. Jane is a wonder because she is ninety two and still plays tennis and skis. Dell and Jane are the only ones who still drive and when Dell pulled up in her big town car, I thought she was gonna knock Jane's little Honda out of its parking place. There was only a good inch between the two cars. Mimi and her two sewing club friends had a wonderful time visiting and Bep and I enjoyed them being together.
The kitty justice is for us to all grow up like these ladies and have long term friendships.

The lake was so low where they are still working on the dam (built in 1948) that a lots of rocks are shown on the shoreline. Prince spied the round rock sitting atop to the left of the photo. Looks like a rock mushroom. Deep hole are very visible along the shore. Maybe I am like the rock with a hole in it as I was tired of everyone being on Facebook so with much reservation, I went on facebook yesterday but have not posted anything yet. Still thinking.LOL

At the moment this photo is the only thing on Facebook. Rather scary don't you think.LOL

Sis, Little Brother and Kitty.
It is rare that all three of us can figure out a time to meet but we did yesterday. We always meet at Sis's town because she lives about half way between us. Little Brother is a lot like Pa Christian in the fact that he can tell stories so funny, you do not mind if he has told them before. Pa loved to hunt and so does Little Brother. He goes hunting in our home county where Mom and Dad are buried so he is the keeper of the graves for us. He had just put some fall flowers on their graves. Now Sis is like Pa Christian because her hair is still dark like his was with only a little gray near the ears. As you can tell Little Brothers and mine have more gray than our older sibling. Sis was named after our wonderful Mother and she looks like Mother. I however look more like Dad and Little Brother looks a lot like Pa Christian.
The kitty justice is we really should plan more of the same in the future.

The two best named boats, I did not get a photo. They were "Dividends" and "Empty Nest."The first parks around the back side of the cove behind Alan Jackson's house. Once upon a time, the largest buck in Tennessee roamed the untouched forest of Davidson County. Hunters would come from near and far away as Japan to try to harvest him so they could boast of killing the largest white tail deer ever known to man. Alas, whenever shots were fired at him, he would disappear and not be seen until the next hunting season. This was a great mystery to all the hunters and they would sit by their campfires and tell tales of seeing this monster buck and how he mysteriously disappeared when fired upon. As time pasted and more hunters came to Tennessee to try their luck, the buck was seen less and less. Then hunters became disinterested and they too became less and less. The Kitty Justice is I have solved the tale and mystery, the big buck turned himself into a tree and continues to grow in the sanctuary of Cheekwood.

My good girl will look for a space to be out of the way of traffic in the kitchen. Here she is under the counter and the sun light is coming through the kitchen door making her coat look red . I have to brag on her because she knows more words than any dog, I have ever owned plus since she was three months old she has gone down and gotten the morning paper for us. She is my constance companion but loves to play with Puppy and Prince.

The top two photos were taken before coffee this morning. First day of the sun after the rains.

These two photos were taken after coffee. I love how the sun reflects on the fog. In the first two photos the fog looks like water in the valleys. We are suppose to have partly sunny day today with the temp 75 degree high and when these photos were taken it was 55 degrees on the hill.
The kitty justice is that I heard Mother Earth say "Ah, this feels good" while I was taking the photos.

These photos were taken on Labor Day 9-5-2011 right before sun down. It had rained all day so after dinner we were watching the football game(btw Maryland had the worse looking uniforms) and I told Prince the sky looked funny. He said that is the sunset and we should have a rainbow somewhere. Mimi looked out the kitchen window and said she saw the rainbow. Up we shot and went to the window and it was gorgeous. All three photos were taken less than ten minutes and no I have not doctor them. They show exactly how it looked. Do you see the second rainbow? So far today the high on the hill has been 55 degrees. Last week at this time it was forty degrees hotter with outrageous humidity.
The kitty justice is I wonder why we have to have such radical temperature changes. Now don't go all Al Gore on me and say it is global warming.

I had three pots of geraniums on the porch this year and this is the only pot that seem to grow. I used fresh soil, watered and fertilized each the same but the other two pots just did not grow. I have never had trouble before, and the only difference was the other two pots got the hot afternoon sun. I think the heat must have stunted their growth.

Our wonderful neighbor, Brenda brought this Gerber daisy to Mimi and it has produced these lovely yellow flowers all summer. As I have stated before, yellow flowers are happy flowers.

The petunias are showing off their last Hoorah before I yank them out of the pots . Again the heat has not been kind to them. Speaking of heat, we have experienced wonderful days of rain and the temperatures have only been in the low eighties with morning starting in the low sixties. Maggie and I went out and stood in the wet world when it first started pouring from Heaven. What little rain we have had has already made the green color return to the yard and fields. We had not had any amount of rain since August 5th. The kitty justice is the tears from Heaven have been a BLESSING. BTW: I hope and pray everyone has some labor to celebrate.

Last week Knoxie gave me some pears that had come from her farm in Kentucky. After I fell Friday 8-26, wrangling Moe cat, I could not fix them because I had hurt the right arm and hand when I fell. My hand is still not quite well, but Friday afternoon, I decided to try and make Pear Preserves like Mother use to do. After she peeled and cored her pears, she would run them through the salad shooter. To core the pears was too painful for my hand so I opted to peel and shred by hand. After Mimi's nap she came to help me. I did three pounds of pairs. After I got them to boiling the first time, I added the sugar and Mimi stirred for me. Then we put them in jars. It made 8 and a half jars. I have already given one jar away to our friend Bobby because he brought us some barbecue this morning. Also, we almost ate the whole half jar this morning on toast. Yummy.
The kitty justice is I love to can because it brings back wonderful memories of Mother and Grand Ma.

Nothing has been done to alter this photo but I played with the following two photos and changed the color and saturation. I think I like natural best.

The following two photos have not been changed and if you will note the different position of the sun. It has gone further to the right than displayed in my header photo.

I got out early to beat the heat to water the plants since we really have not had any rain since fifth of August . A record of 98 was set in 1925 and it is possible for us to break it today. Yikes! Another record was broken by a Titan football player yesterday and now he is known as the 53 million dollar man. I do not twit but it was on the news of his ranting on twitter about fake titian fans (those who disagree with his contract dispute) and how he could not be compared to you or me as he did not have a regular job. So if you smell something really nasty coming from Nashville you know what it is C J Johnson attitude. Especially in this economy how can he justify that sum . As for me, I do not believe ANYONE deserves that kind of salary and I do mean ANYONE. Granted some peoples ability to do certain things are better than others but who makes this possible? Look up or out and see all the every day people who give their hard earned money to watch you. The kitty justice if there were NO FANS then you would just fumble.
BTW Got a great E mail the other day stating our Government officials need to wear uniforms like Nascar drivers so we could tell who are their sponsors. I'd vote for that.

This is Puppy sitting in Darrell Waltrip's race car that was on display at his Franklin Honda Dealership in 1992. We were having a D W day. The gentlemen in the dealership were very nice and took Puppy's name and D W sent him an autograph photo. I tell you this so you know our family has been FANS for years. It will also put in perspective my week.
First of all, I was doing some Cat wrangling, so I could take Moe to the vet to get his second leukemia shot on time, and trying to lasso a cat with a towel and stuff him in a cat box is no small feat. Anyway, it happen so quickly, I found myself laying on the concrete garage floor. As I laid on my side wondering if all my parts would work, my first thought was I am too old to wrangle cats.
Secondly, I spent the better part of the weekend taking Ibuprofen and rubbing Joint Flex on places that should work without pain.
Thirdly , on Monday I went to a new doctor in hopes to get the side effects of my diabetic med addressed. Cross your fingers for my results.
Last but not least, I awoke on Tuesday with a terrible headache but went ahead took Mz Merlot #5 to the Honda dealership to get her oil changed, and as I was waiting I noticed Darrell Waltrip (A NASCAR Legend) had come in and was meeting with a bunch of folks . Being the curious Kitty that I am, I took up a wall flower position and enjoyed the gathering. A donation was being made to Habitat to Humanity. This was one time, I could be a "looky loo" and not be considered someone staring at D W. I was enjoying watching him just like I had watched him for years racing cars and announcing races along with track-side interviews. Never did I dream, D W would turn and look straight at me and ask me "How are you doing today?" This old lady turned into a fifteen year old star struck girl. I manage to shake his hand and say I hope-- coherently --how much my husband and I enjoyed watching him for years. He put his left hand on top of our hand shake and looked me in the eyes and said "You're a nice girl." As I looked into those kind eyes, my mind tumble over all his accomplishments, I just stood rooted to the spot and he finally let my hand go and as my fingers slipped through his hands (those hands that had steered him to fame) I was floating on cloud ten. Drifting to my car, I sat down and realized I had TALKED AND SHOOK HANDS WITH A LEGEND.. The Kitty Justice is he did not have to acknowledge my existence but he did.WOW!!!!! WHAT A GRACIOUS MAN.

Knoxie had Hazel Crye King a birthday luncheon. Hazel is ninety two. Everyone there had taken Art Classes from her and for some it had been thirty years or longer. It is AMAZING how one small little woman could have changed the lives of so many. The Kitty Justice is that I am one of those lucky ones to have taken art from her.

Moe on the outside looking in. This is how most organized religions, make me feel. I grew up in the country where the preacher would scream Hell, Fire and Damnation. Even as a child, I knew deep in my soul that there had to be more to religion than this. My father was a outcast of his Church of Christ due to his life style and my Mother was raised a Methodist. I started out Baptist, tried Methodist, Church of Christ and then Catholic. I felt more at ease at the Catholic Church than I had in any other and then I balked at joining when only Catholics could take communion and the NUNS tried to tell me what to do. Then I met Prince and as he was an Episcopalian and it was enough like the Catholic Church I joined. Now, with all the hoopla in the Church and women taking leader roles, once again I have the feeling of being outside looking in. I go with Prince and enjoy the service but then I want to get out quickly and not hob knob.

Remember the photo of Prince yesterday on the porch. This is how it looks today. Not much of a view until winter when the leaves are gone. The big Tulip Poplar tree got hit by lighting a few years ago and we will eventually cut it down.

When I stepped out on the porch this morning I was amazed to see so many blooms on the back side of the morning glory plant.

This is the front side of the plant. If I counted correctly, there were 34 blooms which is the most I have ever had at one time. Each flower will produce a seed for next year.

Close up of one of the blooms. The kitty justice if you wish to have some seeds just send me your snail mail address and when I harvest the seeds this fall, you will get a package. Remember these are the ones I paid so much for at the farm store and opened the package to find 5 seeds. The most expensive seeds I ever bought.
