NOT THIS OAK NOR THIS GREEN
A few years back, this giant oak was hit by lighting. So we got a really good professional tree company "Poteet" to cut it down.
I did not get a picture of our labor or the tree limbs that Prince & I worked on yesterday in the 95 degree heat but it could be a twin to the one that is pictured above. Yes it is a very big tree.
A few days ago one of the limbs at the very top came tumbling down. This massive limb hit a lower limb and then crushed my little maple tree which I had dug up out of the woods lot and planted when it was a mere twig.
Maybe the maple was not meant to be because when I first planted it the man who mowed, cut it down to the ground. It was a good 15 feet when the limb took out one side. The maple had just begun to touch the bottom limb on the massive oak.
Prince and I surveyed the damage when the limb from almost the top came tumbling down and I told him we might need to trim back the lower limb. The very next morning on his way to work, he called and told me we did not have to worry about cutting the limb as it had fallen also. Another blow to the tiny maple.
Those huge limbs were unsightly and Prince was determined to complete the job. Several times when we took a water break I tried to get him to be like Scarlet and "think about it tomorrow" but he was not gonna hear it. So we trudges on in the heat. Neither he nor I had on any dry clothes. Occasionally we would take out a handkerchief and wipe our brow.
Maggie thought it was grand and kept playing with sticks and sniffing new places. Only twice did she wonder off and each time she returned with her tongue hanging closer to the ground.
We manage to get one load that did not need splitting and around 17 logs that did need splitting. That will be done another day and one that I hope is much cooler.
As I walked back up the driveway with cooler in hand, I looked up at the MASSIVE OAK and threaten to cut her completely down if she threw another limb down for us to deal with.
The Kitty Justice will be if the massive oak heard me or not.
Prince had the nerve to say to me as we fell asleep "We had FUN TODAY". That woke me up completely and I told him "I do not want to have that kind of fun next weekend". NUF SAID

Yes that proud oak in the picture gave my son the largest oak leaf when he was in the 3rd grade. The leaf measured 23 inches in length.
I really have never seen a tree I did not like.
That oak has been missed by humans, animals and shade flower garden.
Peace
Thanks for your comments, glad you enjoyed the jokes and the foxtail fern. Take great care,
Love, Merle.
