Wheels are turning!!!!!
We are still having hot and humid days to let us know that summer not quite through with us yet. BUT, you can feel it nipping at your soul and see the effects of it in leaves falling to the ground. Fall is coming. It was 65 degrees and very cool the other morning when MD and I went out for her morning walk.
Yesterday I washed the windows downstair both inside and out and had to crawl over the log splitter to do three of them on the outside. As I stepped over it, I was informed by the massive blade at the end that it would be in use soon to make us some wood to fit into the fireplace to keep us warm.
As I was glistening from my the job at hand, I told the mighty machine that he must be mistaken.
As we were having lunch around the outside table at the Art Center, one lady asked "How was your summer?"
The kitty justice is that I was struck out of my fantasy and the machine had been correct after all.

Yes, I'm afraid the log splitter was right. Fall is here and we're feeling it in our neck of the woods. It was cool today - so cool we really should have been wearing sweaters or light jackets. Workmen were wearing fleece lined hoodies this morning when I went for my dental appointment.
It won't be long until we get a visit from Jack Frost. Tonight it is to go down to 48 degrees - the weatherman said it is going to be the coolest night of the summer. Now that is an understatement.
Weather used to turn cold in September when I was a kid, but not so much in recent years. The Farmer's Almanac says we are in for a very cold winter. It usually predicts things correctly.
Yes, I do remember the quilts that came down from the ceiling. It was a great way to keep the work in an out of the way spot when the women weren't working on them.

I think the log splitter is more correct than I wish. Now 48 is cold. It was 63 this morning and a cool breeze was blowing from the west. I did not have on my wrapper because usually it is early enough no one but me is up and being in a gown tail is cooler. Even this hot natured lady wished she had put on her wrapper. I tell Maggie that I need to put on my fur as she has hers on already. Seems like we remember some of the same things. Those are fond memories for us. Peace

I thought the highlights in your granddaughter hair very nice and the soulful expression beautiful. Forties are coming too soon. We need to visit the fifties first and we are slowly getting there. It was 63 here this morning. Glad you got some rain and we are suppose to have a chance of rain for the next five days. Any rain is welcomed here. Peace
As the saying goes firewood warms a person more than once. For me it's about 5 or 6 times.

We have some oaks and hickory we must cut up and I wish we could share with you. Too much for us to burn. I think a fire is the warmest heat. Peace

Ah, if nothing else we can complain about the weather. Funny none of us can change it just adjust and go on. I will be having to bring in all the plants I put outside soon. That means cleaning the pots and trimming them back and spraying them with volick oil. Peace
