At our last Garden Club meeting, our talented neighbor, Ruth Jackson, graciously took out the jewelry she had made and shared the process and her gift with the ladies of the club. I was honored as she let me pick out a piece of jewelry to wear to the meeting. It was the blue flower necklace that you can see close up in the last photo.
It was a toss up of choosing the blue flower necklace or the long necklace in second photo with the Ginkgo leaves.
The pink necklace in the second photo she did by illustration only as the instructions were in a book written in Russian.
She and her late husband who was an Artist in his own right, worked together on the chain jewelry and Ruth said he often made her jump rings for her.
Most of these are tucked away in her jewelry case and as she proclaimed not worn often.
The kitty justice, I would have a display case and change them often to enjoy those beautiful items and display them for others to gaze upon.
Ah, Ruth is way to modest to do this.
Comments
Ruth is the kind of artist that likes the process but is not very eager to wear the results.
On the other hand, I know some jewelery artists that are a walking advertisement of their work.
Hugs,
Betsy
They are lovely and she is very modest and wears it occasionally but most of the time it is tucked away. Peace
Betsy
Yes she is very talented and very patience to make sure intricate works of art. I was honored to wear the necklace and I do have a pair of craft scissors on a necklace that she weaved. She had a loom before the fire demolished their work shop but she did beautiful weaving so I guess the jewelry was another way to show her talent. Peace
One day I was over at her home and she said she would show me how to make something, and I ended up spilling all the TINY beads on the floor. She never extended the offer to give me any more lessons. Peace
Happy week-end.
They are very tiny indeed and I would have problems seeing them to attach the correctly. No she does not have any children but has some very caring nephews etc. Peace
It was funny about washing the cat joke - I washed a white teddy-bear that lives on my bed and I felt for him
and did not put him in the dryer - I sat him on a towel to air dry - we both survived.
Glad you enjoyed the jokes and thanks for the ones you send me. Wishing you enough
dear friend, Love and Peace, Merle.
God bless ya sweetie and have a magnificent day! :o)
