Purple Heart
When I arrived on the Hill, my MIL had only two pots of the plant (the one in the middle and right) and she referred to it as Purple Jew. The first time I had ever seen this plant was when in the 80's I traveled with a friend to Austin TX to see her old friend from college. It was used as ground cover in Austin.
In the spring when I would bring the plants outside, I would cut the plant back and put the cuttings in glass jars of water to root. I now have a whole patch out front in between the petunia and lilies and Saliva and yes it comes back every year.
Those who know me can understand why I had to have another pot of the same plant. Heck it just looks better to have three instead of two.
After many years referring to the plant by the wrong name, I came across a plant book with a photo, name and origin.
The Kitty Justice is I now know it is called "Purple Heart".
