As you turn into our drive, this stately Persimmon tree stands on the right about twelve feet or so from the mailbox.

Last year the drought and Easter freeze prevent fruit from being on any of our trees. This year the two little apple trees are bend to the ground with fruit.

The photo just above and sightly on the left is looking down the hill to the end of the driveway. The little Ginkgo tree that Cousin Susan gave Prince has grown twice it's size this year. The Pin Oak behind the bench has begun to really drape it's limps as that type of oak is accustom to do, however the mighty oak across the drive as you can tell by the top is dying. The big oaks are dying at a rate that is sad to see.
The first photo above and slightly on the right shows a look of coming up the drive. Right across the driveway from the pine on the left is a huge scaly bark hickory tree that is dying and all along the hillside curve to the right are about six or more huge oaks that are like the persimmon leafless and dead.
That persimmon was a favorite of all the wildlife. You really never knew what you would see at the end of the drive dining on persimmons.
The kitty justice is to find someone who will respectful lay these mighty trees who have provided so much over the years gently on the ground.
To some they may be just pieces of wood to burn but to me they are family members of a different sort to be treated with love and respect.
May there acorns and seeds produce a new crop to bless the ones to come.

Thanks. The persimmon tree was huge so I had to take three photo to get it all. The fruit on the tree is orange with lots of large seeds. The animals eats seeds and all as Maggie's waste will attest. Some people love them but I have never aquired a taste for them. The neighbors still have a big tree and there are a few small ones but that Grandaddy of trees is gone. The wood is expense and several people had asked if we wanted to sell the tree. I believe walking canes and golf clubs are made from the wood. Peace

Dear Dianne ~~ What a lot of trees you have near you. It is sad when an old tree dies as they are so magnificent. I am glad you liked the story of the Teacher and her student
And I agree there is always one teacher who was our favorite, Thanks again for the call enter jokes.

It is sad to see those magnificent natural umbrellas fall. Fortunately maybe they have left behind enough saplings. My FIL did not believe in cutting a perfectly good tree so these have grown very very very tall trying to compete for the sunlight. It makes it very hard to cut those that are dead and not hit some trees you would like to keep. The best tree men we have had on the hill were "The Poteet Tree Service" I need to put in a call to get in line for their service. Peace
