Can you believe it is "Sunday Sharing" time again?
The abundance veggie in the south might be a head of cabbage. This is NOT a favorite by the boys on the hill. Puppy refuses to eat Cole slaw or cooked cabbage. Prince will eat the first without onions and will eat it cooked but only occasionally. However, I have found the following recipe that both will eat RELUCTANTLY. In others words they will both say it is good but would not like to eat it tooooooo often.
CABBAGE CASSEROLE
1 lb. ground meat
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. Accent ( I do not have this in our spice rack, so I use one of my favorite herbs which in this case Thyme.)
1 cup rice
1 cup milk
5 cups of cooked cabbage
1 can cream of mushroom soup (May have to start using two if the cans keep getting smaller.)
1 cup grated cheese (Your choice, I use sharp cheddar.)
Brown meat, celery, onion, salt, Accent and garlic powder, drain. Add cabbage to meat mixture, along with rice and milk. Put in a casserole dish and bake at 350 degrees for one hour. Top with grated cheese last few mins. Remove when cheese melts.
Now be sure to bake some cornbread to serve with the casserole.
The cock comb flowers (second photo) were another flower that Mother would grow in her garden. Hers would be as big as her hand, mine are only finger size. I know what I did wrong so I will try again next year .
After reading Abe's post for the last couple of days and some of the comments, for no reason except to see where my coffee cup came from, I flipped it over before I filled it and yes it was made for a company in Illinois but produced in China. I challenge all readers to start checking the products to see where they are made.
As I poured the coffee, thoughts of my Mother whispered in my mind and when she began her working career in Smith County the only big factory was a shirt factory in town. Dad had stopped tobacco farming and started driving a truck for the local Co-op. We were living in a four room house with Mom's parents. Mother made a huge salary at the time of forty cents an hour. Pa was a tenant farmer for Al Gore Sr.'s sister.
Oh the story I could tell but Mother said if you cannot say anything good say nothing at all.
Where are the clothes you are wearing today made? Not in Smith County. When you drink your coffee this morning, flip the cup over and see where it was made. I go to Wally World less than a couple of handfuls a year. Now how often do you darken their door? How many of people you know have lost their jobs because the jobs left America? Hmmmm.
Graham was correct when he stated "We are a nation of WHINER." Who's fault is that?
The Kitty Justice is we cannot have it made in America and cheap too.

I have only been in Walmart once in my whole entire life and don't plan on another trip. The tried to come to our little town and we all fought it and the town council said NO!
So what did you do wrong to the Celosia that you will fix next year? MB
Good for you girl. I love your Wally World story.
First thing I neglected it.
Secondly, I did the unforgivable, I left it too crowded.
Third, I will try a different type food for it next year.
Peace
Take care, my friend, Love, Merle.
I like the idea of an exchange. I think I would be getting the better deal. I think Wally World took a wrong turn somewhere as it started out selling lots of America made. I saw on the news a few days ago how the recylcing business is booming. Most of the recycled stuff goes to China and then they remake it into something and we buy it again. Duh. Peace
Merle
I will be over to pick it up and now that I know how to put them on the sidebar, I can display it. This might not be a big achievemnt for some but ever thing I learn to do on the computer is a REAL MILE STONE for kitty. Thanks and peace be with you.
