IS IT 2004 AGAIN?
Puppy called on a Tuesday which is the same day of the week it was in 04 and said he had hurt his right knee when he stepped back in a hole.
It was a Tuesday back in 04 and the first day of Spring football practice . He called me as I was driving home and asked "What kind of insurance do we have?"
He had just started driving so my first thought was he had had a car accident. NOT.
He needed to know what kind of health insurance we had as he had kinda hurt his knee in practice. I told him advised him who the provider was and also said I would be over to pick him up.
Mimi was still in good health so I drove her car so she could drive him home and I could drive the little Honda home.
KINDA HURT KNEE. It was his patellae, MCL &ACL.
We were very fortunate that Dr. Burton Elrod (TN. Titians doctor was also the doctor for our football team. He was also the Dad of two of our really good players.)
Now, being who he was you know he had seen lots of knee injuries. I was not prepared for him to say "This is the worse injury I have seen in anyone this young." He compared it to a knee of a motorcycle rider who had run into a tree.
When I get that nervous, I either laugh or cry. I giggled and he gave me an ominous frown.
He then proceeded to say Puppy would have to have two surgeries as each had to be healed in a different manner.
After the first surgery, Dr. Elrod called us back and told us that his patellae was like a mop and he had did the best he could to put it back together as it was torn about ninety percent. The leg had to kept straight to heal properly. The ACL surgery was three months later and the leg had to move this time so that was the reason for two surgeries.
After we got back from the doctors office yesterday, I need a diversion so I started reading my favorite blogs. When I read Simply Joys post on HOPE, I knew everything would work out.
So as she said in her post, the kitty justice is to make stones out of this boulder.
The kitty justice is I may not get around to y'all's post and if I do get a chance to read them, I probably will not post any comments.

I have had two bad knees since I was his age. One keen was from a motorcycle accident where it was smashed, the other from a majot dislocation. Anyway my advice is to keep the legs extra strong by lots of walking when he can. Strong legs help keep the knees together. I also use a walking stick for down hill trail hikes to lessen the impact on the knees.
I am so sorry about the knee injury. A reoccurence is not good. I do hope it is better soon and will add Puppy to my prayer list.
Sending you an email.
Blessings,
Mary
Thanks for stopping by. Puppy is better but we still have not heard from the MRI. Maybe Monday. Peace
