THIRTEEN TOMATOES. Did you count that many? Most of them are in the teaspoon. Those little bitty tomatoes are called Spoon Tomatoes.
Several years ago we were having a party for our neighbors and it was during the winter so you know tomatoes are not to be found that are good that time of year.
I happen to drop by this yuppie store and there was a small carton and I was truly intrigued. Ole practical me, grabbed them up before, I could think about the price. They were horrible EXPENSIVE. Four dollars for a little bitty carton. Mimi was thrilled to see something so quaint and it decorated the green salad we had and was a topic for much discussion at the dinner.
Any true blood gardener, loves to get seed catalogs in the winter so you can dream of the items you wish to plant the coming season. Low and behold, Parks Seed had a packet of these seeds to sell. You know I could not resist and I order a packet to try my hand at the smallest tomatoes I had ever seen. Well they grow in bunches like grapes and they volunteer each year. At times, I have had to pull up the plants as they were trying to take over what little ground I cultivate.
I did not plant those spoon tomatoes this year as they came back one more time for me. I did plant a Better Boy (the largest tomato in the picture) some Early Girls (the medium tomato in the picture) one Roma tomato and one patio or cherry tomato plant. Prince goes every other afternoon and harvest the fruit from the plants and we have had enough to share with others.
Tennessee Caviar
1 -15 oz can of black eyed peas
1- 11 oz can of yellow corn
3 tomatoes chopped
1 small sweet onion chopped
1 cup hot picante sauce
1/4 cup fresh basil chopped
1 clove garlic chopped
2 Tbsp fresh lime juice
Drain peas and corn. Mix all ingredients together in a serving bowl , cover and chill for at least two hours. Serve with tortilla chips. I like a few jalapeno peppers chopped and less onion. I prefer purple onions to add color.
The kitty justice is those spoon tomatoes taste just like the big ones BUT THEY MAKE ITTY BITTY BLT SANDWICHES. I would suggest a hole punch to cut the bread. LOL

ones, but haven't seen those tiny ones, only cherry ones. I am glad Prince got the back yard mowed and the rain will come and the grass will survive. Great that you are having good weather, truly a gift from God.

The tomatoes are wonderful. I have several a day so I may start to turn pink. The weather is really nice. It was 66 this morning and the humidity has been hiding the last few days so I hope it stays in hiding. Now that Prince has the JD back together again, mowing will go faster on the hill. Peace
You asked on my blog if I often use Black and White film. I have a digital camera, I take all my photos with that, and then I convert some to black and white when I feel that it is needed.. Have a great week and thanks for sharing!

I have never tried to slice those itsy bitty tomatoes but I may see if I can. Thanks for answering my question. There was an exhibit about a couple of months ago and all the photo that were displayed were black and white. Peace

There are so many variety of tomatoes but I grew up with Big Bog and Bradley. Neither of which I grow now. So far I have had the best luck (productive and more pest resistance) with Early Girl and Better Boy. The Roma (only one) really produced so I may plant two next year. We had 67 degrees this morning and the humidity is still hiding. I did all the bedroom windows yesterday and going up and down the ladder has made every muscle ache. If I had the extra cash, I would invest in one of those lift buckets. LOL I can see me now. Peace
